Hi all, I'll be flying to Chicago for a biz trip, staying around the Mag Mile. Mostly interested in seeing what I can bring back to NYC - the bf likes IPAs and I'm more into sours/stouts - but would love a few bar or taproom suggestions too. I won't have a car and will be reliant on the train/Uber.

Half Acre, Revolution, Hay Market,Beermiscuous, Bangers & Lace, Hopleaf, Local Option. Any one of those places will get exactly what you're looking for. Ton more options, chat with folks at those spots to get more places to check out. Have fun in Chi-town!

I don't want to say a recent post covered the same general question, but a recent post covered the same general question.

If youre trying to sample a ton of locals, Hopcat and Lincoln Station in Lincoln Park are great. Sheffields in Lakeview/Wrigleyville is very good.

Apologies, misread the year when I did the search. I'm fairly sure most of the stores in that thread still exist though.

If you are strictly in the loop hit up the south loop binnys. It will be a good place to get many Midwest brews not available in NYC.

If you want a place to eat/drink head to kaiser tiger, haymarket, and au chavel for an awesome burger.

If you are by beermiscuous try and step into Delilahs . It is a punk/whisky bar but they have alot of good beer events and taps. Maybe order a deep dish pizza from Gino's East lakeview across the street.

OP is staying near the Mag Mile so Binny's Grand will be much closer for a beer store.

IPAs: NYC gets Pipeworks and Half Acre - so there goes my first two recommendations. I'd just ask for some local freshies and pick whatever looks interesting. Some names to keep an eye on are Spiteful, Hailstorm, 18th St (Binnys Grand will have this), Hubbards Cave (although I don't know if they've released one recently).

Sours: for local stuff, Une Anee is the big one that comes to mind. Whiner has some solid stuff. We also get distro for Upland and Almanac (although I can't remember if NYC sees Alamanac beers?).

Stouts: Lots of good stuff on the shelves right now - I'd just ask what they have and you'll likely get some good stuff.

Also, for beers of all kinds and solid food, I am extremely partial to Monks Pub which is in the loop, but on the north side so not far from the Mag Mile.

And to be fair, the same question has been asked dozens of times since that thread anyway. The "gonna be in Chicago, looking for good bars/breweries" question comes up every other week, on average.
