Granted, his odd wording left unnecessary room for interpretation, but he wouldn't quite have to be one of the undead to have enjoyed maibocks over the last two centuries...just somewhere between 11:59pm, December 2000 and today.

I said "during," not "over."

    I've lived during 2, haven't you?

I lived during 2 centuries but sadly I've only been able to drink during one of them (other than a sip of Miller Lite here and there and very small glasses of wine).

On topic, I'm going to be trying to contribute with the Saint Arnold Spring Bock that I have already... I don't think I'll be able to talk on the day of the tasting because I'll be at a ren faire though...

SD does get August Schell and Summit, but like many beers distributed here we may not be seeing their full lineup. I didn't note either Maibock on the shelves now, but wasn't really looking for them. I got Dead Guy and the Hofbrau, so I'm set.

They just canned Dead Guy Ale so the cans should be pretty fresh.

I think the Schell's Maibock has just been released. Summit has been out for a few weeks. Glad you're set.

I really like their new can design, and they've changed their bottle design to match.

No Dead Guy of any kind to be found within a decent radius of my home -- except on tap at one spot (no, I didn't stop). Oh well, no big loss for me.

How close are you to Chicago? I hear there are lots of dead guys there that vote in every election! :grinning: (Giving myself an  for that lame joke....)

Went looking today and all they had was Capital maibock - so I grabbed that. If anyone out of Capital's distro wants to try this one for the tasting hit me up.

I'm still going to try to find a German example, also might have to track down the Troegs Cultivator from on you on the East Coast.

One of the two local breweries around here just released their Maibock. Hopefully more start popping up so more folks can join in on this tasting.

For what it's worth, Trader Joe's has their Spring Maibock out, Spring Prost brewed by Gordon Biersch, and it's very similar to HB's Maibock -- more malty and bolder than most. It's worth a try at $6.50 a sixer.

Unfortunately Cultivator has been reduced to brewery only this year.

Anyone have the Summit Maibock? It is all over the shelves here now but I have heard that it is a slightly hoppier take on the style? I love hops but can get a little annoyed when things are too hoppy for the style.

I haven't had it this year, but if memory serves, it has some bittering in the middle and finish, but not overly so. IDK how it compares to a fresh German maibock, though.

Anyone know much about the Sierra Nevada "Old Chico Pale Bock"? Assumed it was a Maibock or Helles style, but the listing on here just says Bock. Not many reviews. Wondered if it will be available nationwide?? I saw on Twitter that is was seeing CA distribution now.

An earlier BA listing has it listed as a maibock. Also, it looks like its just distributed in Chico and surrounding areas, but maybe @sierranevadabill can chime in with confirmation?
