    Beware -- it was pricey.

I was also concerned about age, but the beer-dude at the new craft beer store assured me it was only a week on the shelf. Guess I can trust the guy, this stuff tastes crazy fresh.

Be interested to know more about it, but I have to wonder if the Pils listed at the Ayinger web site is the same beer; it's listed as 5.0 ABV, not 5.3 (I know, I know) -- Export Pils?

No IBU listed at the Ayinger site either.

I know a guy who was sent one for official review. He said the stock that just came in was ultra fresh

Did he get a half liter bottle, or the .33? Be good to know if this will be available in the big bottles.

Need to keep my eyes peeled for this. Never had a fresh beer from Ayinger that disappointed. Their wheat beers aren't to my particular tastes, but they're still very well done.

I had an Ayinger Maibock yesterday, it was subtle despite being 6.9%. I find a lot of Maibocks are boozy, but this was just classy.

I posted about Ayinger Maibock in a past thread (with a photograph below):

"Ayinger Maibock is a very tasty Maibock!!"

I am not a big fan of the Ayinger Pilsner; it is a nice beer though.

    Cheers!

When did you have the pilsner and why aren't you a fan?

I had another Ayinger Pils before dinner tonight and the aroma and flavor brought me back to Bavaria. It's spot-on.

Casually found Ayinger Jahrhundert on tap at "my local" the Friday after reading this comment, which was really lovely and made my weekend. Still envious about yours, as i declare myself a big fan of the bavarian pils renditions.

Jahrhundert is a strong favorite of mine from Ayinger, and I've never had it vom Faß -- so color me equally as envious!

That's the beer they serve vom holzfass at Ayinger Speis und Trank. Served in tall clay mugs--it was delicious!

This is a little neighbourhood bar somewhere in northern Spain, close to the Basque-French border. Very nice ambient with little pose or hipsterism but just love for beer, and for all the hoppy ones in the board there is always place for something i might be more interested (apart from Prior they had also Abt 12 on tap this weekend, and had my fair share of Stille Nacht and Oerbier from their great bottle collection). It is pricier than a normal one but i have to agree that Jahrhundert is a steal at 2.60-4.20 (euros yes, halfs and pints) if compared with the trendy ones. Weihenstephan, Spaten and all the others are usually in that range also and the belgians are fair game, which makes it even better!

That said i´ve enjoyed modern hoppy beers from time to time here, as i rarely do it at home. Specially the good ones from your country as The Kernel, Magic Rock or Beavertown.

Yeah, in all my visits to Munich I never steered that direction -- was always drawn to the HB.

The one from the wood is unfiltered and unpasteurized, a Kellerbier is how I would categorize it.

On the Ayinger tour, you get samples of Jahrhundert off of the Zwickel valve on the fermentation tank.

Never had Jahrhundert before, or any Ayinger vom Faß for that matter. Needless to say i drank a few jars like there was no tomorrow, and made no room for taking notes while chatting with friends. Still remember loads of fresh white bread and some yeast in the nose, with very little distraction from the tiny hints of lemon (almost no hops or honey aromas if there was any). Taste followed with a noticeable and pleasant bitterness, maybe peppery notes and again just hints of residual sweetness. Smooth and drinkable as hell. Straightforward and very refreshing. Nice!

No lacing here but still delicious.

You were so close! Given that they're basically across from one another, I had to go to both.
