What type of music was it? We were stuck in the metal tent and too drunk to realize there was another...

 

I remember lots of '90's hip-hop, which is pretty much bound to make me happy anywhere. Of course, I ended up pretty hammered, so maybe it was just one song by A Tribe Called Quest that made me happy and I latched onto that.

 

I camped out at the 90's hip hop tent the entire time. Great music, endless pours of great beer. Didn't need much more. Got pretty damn hammered and luckily remembered some how to get my ass in line to get my DLs and then I got lost trying to find my way back to that tent! It was a blast and can't wait to do it all again.

 

They should try and get Tribe to play...they will be out for Pitchfork...

 

Three Floyds would be my favorite brewery ever if they would re-brand to be 98% less metal (I wanted to say 120% but I think that would have offended many of our fellow consumers).

 

Anyone asking for any music other than heavy metal/metalcore is going to the wrong beer festival !!!

Personally I'm hoping for some Norwegian black metal to round out the Goatwhore and Amon Amarth combo.

 

Like I said, they had The Melvins headline the 15th anniversary party, and it was fucking awesome.

 

No one's gotten a Handjee in cargo shorts since Nam.

How long does it take to get inside the festival?

Deciding if I should take the 11am or noon shuttle from Chicago for Group E tix.

Also, how long does it take to pickup allotments. Am I fine signing up for the 6pm shuttle back?

 

If you get there at 11am, expect an hour-hour and a half wait to get in from either line. Allotment pickups can either be super quick or super slow, depending on when they open up the group lines. Last year people said that they started the later groups early.

My best suggestion with DLD is to not be too concerned about time. Have an alternate plan. If you feel that 6pm is cutting it too short, consider an uber back. You might get involved in a share, or meet some new friends and not want to head back that early. DLD is always best when you play it by ear.

 

I'm a metal fan, but I'm not a huge fan of the bands that they normally get. I'd also love to see the Melvins come around

 

Beer Temple is running a shuttle again too:

Pairing up with the DMen Tap (who will have a food truck again at Floyds this year) who will be serving coffee, breakfast and more at the pick-up spot.

Also doing a pick-up at Maria's in Bridgeport.

The problem with the bands they get (in terms of my taste) is that it's just way too hardcore and screaming. I'm not really a fan of metal, but I can appreciate guitar and power chords.

When the vocals get super throaty, it's probably my least favorite style of music.

 

I would suggest taking a later shuttle. You don't want to be stuck in the line and miss the 6PM, knowing your line doesn't even start pickups until 5.

Chance you'll get in before 5 (they did this last year) but don't make plans around that happening.

 

Maybe Old Style/PBR Day will be more your speed

I split a bottle of old dank nick between 2 folks over Xmas. Even as a heavy coffee drinker I felt my heart pounding a million miles a second..
