Does Superflux have a tasting room? Is it shared with Dogwood?

Speaking of which, is Dogwood any better nowadays? Have they learned to make beer yet?

Superflux isn't brewing at Dogwood anymore. Not sure if it's public info yet where their new home is. But no, they didn't have any Superflux beers on tap at Dogwood. Alibi has it regularly as does Darbys

Haven't had a Dogwood beer in ages myself.

That kinda sucks, I was hoping I'd find their canned stuff there. Would've given me an excuse to walk to Dogwood. Oh well, I'll keep my eyes peeled for their stuff next time I'm in a liquor store. Haven't had any of their stuff since Hot Trub Time Machine (which was so good), kinda excited to check them out again.

Hey everyone - headed your way this Thursday through next Thursday on a (seemingly annual now) Whistler trip. What's new since last March? I haven't been to Strange Fellows, Steamworks, or Postmark yet, so I'm guessing those should happen? Four Winds is also likely. Anything else going on?

Also, obligatory "WHERE ARE THE LOONS AND 3F?"

If any of you I've met before through Brews for New Avenues or otherwise want to grab a beer, BM me!

Depends when you're actually in Vancouver. There's a Dunham tap takeover at Darby's Gastown on Saturday I would highly recommend. They just 'won' best brewery in Canada on Ratebeer.

Also Twin Sails releases a new Double IPA brewery only on Saturday.

Next Wednesday Modern Times and Field House release their collab beer at Alibi Room, 5 taps each plus the collab.

Need some advice, on beer to pick up. Staying in yaletown and saw a liquor store (jimmys) with some 2017 Singularity. Is it worth grabbing a bottle? Heard their prices are relatively high. How much do these usually sell for?

Haven't been to that Liquor Store in ages, but can't imagine they have great pricing given the location, but ya never know. Most shops downtown are gonna be $2-$3 more per large format bottle than the ones further East. At least the beers over $10. Not always though.

Singularity is quite good this year. I think it goes for less than $15 everywhere.

Picked up a bottle for 16. Not bad compared to what any barrel aged beer in the states goes for.

My thoughts exactly when I bought it. Was going to try and find a bottle of alesong's mocha rhino suit on the way through Seattle. It'll run 18+ for a smaller 500ml bottle.

Am I right in assuming that if I'm spending a night in Abbotsford, Field House is THE place to go?

Field House is a cool spot to hangout, not sure about any beerbars out there. Maybe some chains with craft on tap.

Old Abbey puts out a tonne of beers on tap, and then there is also Ravens. I think there's something called Sahti Ales as well?

There is not much in Abbotsord for Beer Bars, but Old Abbey Ales and Ravens are close together and Field House is not that far.

Brodeur's Bistro is good near Ravens and OAA and tends to have an Abbotsford Beer on tap. Field House is pretty close to be the only place to go though.

Has anyone heard about this? It just happened to be on one of the days I'm going to be in Van. Apparently there's supposed to be free brewery tours and shuttles driving around.

They did it last year and I heard mixed reviews. Many people said the lineups weren't worth it, as you can do the same thing on your own any day of the week without crowds. One person told me they waited over an hour to get in/get a free beer at one place. Not sure how they can really prevent that, most of the breweries are quite tiny. They're all packed on regular weekends as is. I'm pretty sure Doan's fits 12 people for example, no joke.

Hadn't heard about shuttle, but you can easily walk between them, maybe not all in one day of course that'd be a lot of beer!

Some breweries will have a special beer or two, some will be regular rotation.

If I went, I'd start at Odd Society, grab some food at Andina, and then zig zag my way from breweries down to Strange Fellows. Andina and Luppolo are the newest spots. Check em out! You could also do the reverse, and sling some cocktails at Odd Society at the end (not a brewery they make great gin and vermouth though!)

If it's a sunny day and you don't mind walking, I'd for sure recommend it to see the area. Not even remotely dangerous or sketchy. Anyone who says otherwise is a sissy :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the reply! I might rethink that if there were hour long lines, could switch it up and check out brewery row in Moody that day since it should be pretty quiet. Or maybe just plan on a few that would be worth waiting for. Parallel 49 might be cool to tour since I'm guessing they have a pretty big brewing space (considering how much of their stuff makes it here to Alberta) Other than that I might have to check out some of the place reviews on this site.
