Carton is interesting. They have a couple really well executed beers that keep the lights on, then seem to make stuff that they almost don't really want to appeal to a whole lot of people.

Happened into a day off today. Should I presume that Mexican apple pie beer will not be today?

Correct. They don't do beer releases on Fridays.

Recently Sundays have been having releases. It used to be just Wednesdays but now it could be a Thursday as well. That being said there is a pattern recently of two releases a week. One on Sunday and another Wednesday or Thursday.

throw a dart at a wall with days written on it minus monday, tuesday and friday and then you shall have your answer. but first you have to draw some dope picture and get pretty high.

truth. prima had a more rounded and interesting mouthfeel, a lot more floral hop character (or hop character at all) and a crisper finish. not saying i don't like trendler but just don't see the point in picking it up again right now.

    A short story:

I was in the Fermentaria a few months ago and I sat at the bar. Before I even ordered my first beer the bartender informed me that they had cans of Trendler Pils for sale and he quoted the price. I was tempted to respond: I could almost buy two 6-packs of Sly Fox Pikeland Pils for that price, but I didn't. I drank a few draft Tired Hands beers and I left with no cans of Trendler Pils,

    Cheers!

At least you know the Trendler is fresh. Seems every time I go to buy some Prima, I have difficulty finding anything that isn't at least a couple of months old. That's not Victory's fault, of course, but Prima goes downhill very fast, in my opinion.

Fresh Prima, though, is a wonderful beer.

This is true and in all fairness was bought at Victory Downingtown last weekend while Trendler was a couple weeks old. Funny how the timeline of fresh beer right now has gotten down to days.

Trendler seems to actually do OK for a month or 2, but I'd take a fresh Prima over a fresh Trendler in a heartbeat.

“Seems every time I go to buy some Prima, I have difficulty finding anything that isn't at least a couple of months old.”

The good news is that there are plenty of high quality Philly area Pilsners to choose from and if my highest priority is freshness I pick the freshest available of: Sly Fox Pikeland Pils, Stoudts Pils, Victory Prima Pils, Troegs Sunshine Pils*, Neshaminy Creek Trauger Pils, Double Nickel Pilsner, …

I am probably forgetting a Pils or two.

*Troegs Sunshine Pils is now a year round beer.

Trendler Pils is a nice beer but simply not worth the price.

    Cheers!

P.S. And let's not forget growlers from Brewpubs like Sly Fox Tettnang Keller Pils which costs 8 bucks:

    Even better!!

    Cheers.

P.S. There is a regular customer of the Sly Fox Brewpub who typically comes in on Wednesdays to refill several growlers. One bartender (Ray) refers to him as the X growler guy. I would tell you what X means but that would rat out this guy (he is a nice guy).

Sly Fox brews the Tettnang Keller Pils a few times a year (3-4?). I would strongly recommend that you visit the brewpub next time it is pouring (maybe May to be available during the Goat Race?) and drink some of this glorious beer. Oh, and bring a growler with you.

    Cheers!

There is a keg of that on-tap now at my local. It is very, very good!
