You were right. I spoke to Pete at Twin Elephant yesterday and he said he had never been there before. He choose to visit because of the enthusiasm of the responds he got about it.

That's the impression I had from the article or maybe the comments... I left around 2:00 or so, was it real busy when he was there?

I got there a bit after 4 and he was at the bar PAYING for a sampler. The tasting room was standing room only at that time.

I got there at 2:30 and got one of the last 4-packs. By then at least 2 or 3 of the beers were scratched off, so if he was there after, he missed out on Diamonds & Pearls and Can I Kick It?

Would love to. We had just landed in Newark and gave it a shot and it paid off. We didn't stay too long, definitely wasn't a planned visit, but we might be back up there in two or three weeks, hopefully earlier on a Saturday. It was nuts by the time I got there.

Clincher in excellent. The place was crowed as soon as it opened and pack at 5:00 when I left. Hope they have beer left for you and Pete. I got to speak to Pete last week nice guy.

yeah they told me it was slammed Friday and had to cut off growlers by 6pm... clincher was really nice and Shimmy Ye was the best batch I can recall... also tried the glo worm which I enjoyed.

I did speak to Pete, nice guy.. he disappeared into the back/brewhouse area for a long time and probably only drank 1/3 of each of 6 4 oz tasters..(they also gave him a sample of to be carbed Mr. Pinkerton)... photographer was all over though, and I think I may get quoted since he asked for my name...:grimacing:

How many beers did they have left? They were selling as many growler as pints yesterday.

they still had 6 on when I left just before 4 or so...but I guess that went quickly - I see now they are closing at 8 because they are out of beer

When I was there, standing at the bar you could hear the conversation of all the people who were first timers coming in because of the press. On the bright side, they said they will be doubling capacity very shortly per the announcement they posted about closing early tonight, so that's a plus.

I see they are moving to a 5bbl brew house, hopefully that means they'll begin opening on Sundays again, maybe that will cut down on the Friday/Saturday business.

They're my local brewery and I love them, but I would very much like to be able to sit down there when having a drink.

Wish I could make it there today for this:

Slow Flows Remarkable - 7.3% American IPA DDH with Citra, Simcoe, & CTZ. Dank apricot bomb from the Trois yeast rounded out with just enough sweetness from the honey and munich malts.

Garden Stretch - 7.3% White IPA DDH with Jarrylo, Hallertau Blanc, & Waimea. Earthy, grassy up front but finishes fruity. Drinks like a much smaller ABV beer begging you to go back for another sip. (Witbier malt bill but American yeast)

I doubt growler sales will make it past 7 pm this evening.
