So who wants to split a 2014 KBBS four ways for $42 an ounce?

I haven't had this solid brewery in a while. Is everything still up to snuff or will I be wasting my time?

Are you serious or trolling? lol I can't tell...

Anyway, DDH Sue is showing up in a ton of places right now. If you see it, and there is no limit, stock up. Same with the fresh Pompeii batch. Also heard rumors of King Sue bombers getting further distro from this last batch, but haven't seen them yet.

The run of the mill Florida 4-packs are fine, but bombers from Decorah are always money.

Jesus Christ! Well, they spent that much in the first place, stands to reason they should be able to pay what they owe.

To be fair, it's not like this guy only bought the one bottle and scurried off to rub his neckbeard with glee about how he was able to scum TG. He bought many bottles and probably dropped $1500. If you buy that much in bottles and someone hands you a slip that just says that ridiculous amount, you're going to assume the bar tender did their job.

Also, it sounds like Clark wasn't aware of this and they're talking about it today at their meeting, per Twitter.

What's the backstory on that? Were those $500 bottles for in house consumption?

TL;DR: Dude bought a bunch of expensive, rare bottles at the taproom when they had them there for Mug Club peeps. Paid full price for all but one, and since they don't itemize on the receipt, he didn't know he shorted TG. Later on, TG sees they mis-charged and emailed the guy to get the rest of the money.

Lots of drama because typically when businesses do that, they have to take the hit because it's their mistake.

Thanks! Wow...Hope TG didn't lose too much from that $200 mistake. I'm sure the margins are very tight on a $500 bottle of beer . They could always just buy it back from the guy when he posts it on craigslist and short him $200...

Let's see.... a guy buys a $500 bottle of beer and is charged $300 for it and is somehow offended when the mistake is discovered and he is asked for the $200, so he posts the email to criticize the party he shorted?

OK... I guess I am not surprised, but personally, my ethics are worth more than $200. I'd have just paid it. But, OTOH, I wouldn't have paid $300 for a bottle of beer to begin with, let alone $500.

Actually, I change my mind. Everyone sucks in this.

TG sucks for charging that much, beer turds suck for trading/hoarding and creating a secondary market where these types of prices/valuations occur, and the dudes who bought the bottles suck because they are giving in and furthering such behavior and pricing.

The bottles for sale were on-site consumption only...

Ah, got it. In that case, if the guy spent over a grand shouldn't the server have been tipped close to $200? Let it slide, the brewpub may have lost some money, but the server did okay.

$200 tip for opening a couple bottles aside, if they did get that much they should be expecting to make that up for ringing the beer up wrong.

Kind of looks like what's happening from someone who spent a lot of time in the service industry. Seems like the servers were told fix this with the customer or pay for the mistake out of your pocket.

I always hate to see things like this. It seems like an honest mistake all around, and likely Neil and Christopher were not aware of this.

I'm a little surprised that TG would have asked them for this though, as the bad PR might be worth more than $200.
