2017 Ripple > 2016 Ripple. Please, please make this again when it's hot out. What a good beer Cove is nice too, I think it will evolve well and is better warm than cold. Also, while I'm on my soapbox, can PW again. Thanks!

Haven't cracked the new cans yet but I loved the Ripple bottles last year, excited to try this years batch. Hoping it comes back in the warmer months it's just oh so crushable for those nice summer days and nights!

This isn't a matter of selling out... it's a matter of prudent business practices. This thread is full of people banging down the door to give Kane money. Why shouldn't they let them in?

I don't think that taking up front cash by way of a bottle club would reflect in any way on Kane's commitment to craft and the artistry of their beermaking. Nor does the presence of a club necessarily reflect poorly on any brewery that currently has one (I can think of an exception within the state, however). Knowingly selling an over-hyped, poor quality product for a high price or offering a bottle club with the promise of fancy barrel-aged beer when you have reputation or track record could be characterized as a naked, offensive cash grab. That's not what we're talking about here.

Frankly, I think that offering a bottle club and the beneficial cash flows that come along with it are 100% consistent with Koch's quote. When businesses expand, they need cash. They can get that cash a couple of different ways... borrow, sell equity, or, in this case, accelerate the realization of income. Not many businesses are in a position to do the 3rd (it is an "alternative model", if you will), but I'm positive that the vast majority of businesses looking for cash would go with that option if it were presented.

This is a matter of opinion, I suppose, but I personally don't think that running a brewery needs to be viewed through this lens like brewers have an obligation to provide product via the path of greatest financial resistance. You gotta keep the lights on and the input costs here are not trivial.

To be fair, and I will avoid talking about Kane specifically, I was referencing this:

If your business is doing well, why give up equity? That puts you down the path to losing control of your business and decisions. A board of investors to answer to is a creative-type's nightmare. I would understand if we were talking about a software company, maybe, where you don't have up-front cash, but we are talking about breweries that seem to already doing well for themselves.

The Koch quote is in regards to larger breweries acquiring “smaller craft breweries as a way to squelch competition;” the quote isn’t singling out clubs. It was used (similarly to @kthoag) in response to

Starting up a society, bottle club, point system, etc…is by no means “selling out,” as the brewery is keeping their “soul and control”

Now, whether or not a club is necessary for locals, foreign enthusiasts, or hi-jacks pertains to the specificity of said club: a topic of debate amongst brewery staffers, and agony for grouchy aficionados via forum/media outlets. Perhaps, current progression, and system in place may already be more beneficial than said club. Henceforth, some opt out

I've had everything in this picture other than some of the Kane cans and the Gilded Lily. I can't decide if I have good tastes or a drinking problem.

Ah, okay I think I see where we have a disconnect. I wasn't suggesting that Kane (or any brewery) give up equity. I view the bottle club as an easy way to get upfront cash in exchange for nothing more than an obligation to produce product that they were already planning on anyway.

Ah, clearly I missed the point here. Not sure where I got 'investors' from. Thanks for clearing up. On topic - I have literally no opinion on a bottle club. Haha. I live 10 minutes from Kane so I generally make out good as it is, and I don't particularly care for ANTEAD. So I am sitting pretty (other than being out of Morning Bell)

Yeah really stinks that Morning Bell hasnt made it out there yet this year (if it is going to at all). Makes me think something that has to sit in the tanks a long time (**coughSEACHANGEcough**) might be taking up some of that extra capacity ??? Is this how rumors start? I just conjured that from nowhere FYI before this becomes a real rumor.
