Return trip is going to be rough. I live in Chicago and always take the Monday after DLD off. It is a 2-day recovery beer festival.

 

Man, what a miserable drive back. I could never imagine having to drive anywhere after DLD. My body shuts down for a few days.

 

I got home at like 6 PM last year, took off all of my soaking wet clothes and crashed in bed. I didn't move until about noon on Sunday.

I'm on this shuttle. I'm group A, and slightly concerned about getting in early enough. Contemplating bailing on the shuttle and leaving earlier. But feels like wasted money...

 

You will be fine. I was group A last year and took the 8:00 AM from Jaks and they had plenty of MHJee and FVM when I finally got in. All 4 people in my group received their variant preference without any concerns.

 

Gates at 9:00 though this year instead of 10:00.

 

I think that's really important to note. They let us plebes in Group B in at 11 this year, last year I think it was noon.

 

Ya, I forgot about that. I was in the North Gate last year so by the time I got through there was 30 minutes left until group B was able to go in. I still think you should be fine on the variant selection. But if you want peace of mind, UBER over early. It looks like there are a few people on this forum who would probably join you.

 

I'm shooting for a 7:30 arrival (I'm group A) and will plan on standing in line at the South gate again unless the North gate is somehow shorter of a line (including the snaking at the front of the line). That South gate flows nicely every year.

 

What time are all the grouper A'ers planning on cracking their VBDL at the bottle share tent?

 

I'm not losing sleep over the variant, but also wouldn't mind arriving earlier as the line to get in can take a while. Another concern I have is returning to Chicago at a decent time...I'm going to Mastodon that night and want a couple hours off of my feet...

 

Yeah I'm shooting to get there at 7am for group A. I've never done south gate but I think this year I'll do that.
