I got there around 3:45 and was out a little after 6:00. The chair ****s would have loved it - they moved the line early, at 4:30, and I must have walked by 20 empty chairs in the process. Whoops!

Whomever creates the April version of this thread tomorrow or Sunday you might want to note that Sunday releases have been occurring as of late.

Yesterday was funny. I was right in front of the apartments at about 4:20 or so. The line started compressing at about 4:35 and I walked by a whole ton of empty chairs before stopping on Athens in front of another set of empty chairs which had already kind of been pushed aside. About 4:45 the guys come by and after a few stares from us in line they pick the chairs up and head back to the end of the line. No way any of us standing there were letting those 2 guys stay in line at our location where they had dropped them originally.....and I didn't know any of they guys standing with me, but we were all on the same page about it. Funny but good.

Moral of the story? Chairs are not the be all end all and can make you wait longer if you are not there when the line moves. Chair at your own risk.

Yeah we got back to our chairs just in time to fold them up and start walking. A guy left his chair at the apartments on the street with no name, swerved up in his black suv at like 440 right in front of us and walked out, picked up his chair and threw it in the truck. Five minutes later that guy came walking around the corner and stood in line behind us. Two things happened, someone else passive aggressively confronted him but nothing happened and then the Tired Hands line patrol came around and gave him daps like they were old friends so then everyone kinda backed off. Then a drone flew overhead haha.

I think Double Extra Vanilla Milkshake is fantastic. I did not think it was very sweet at all. Really nice beer.

I think it would be nice if they had a drone live feed so we could check the line real time to see if it is worth taking a drive there. And I am sure the person in the truck was drinking at the Fermentaria the whole time and didn't want to have to carry his chair with him and drove over to pick it up instead.... saw a few complaints about the earlier line condensing

I guess the benefit of the doubt can be given but the impression is that he threw down his chair and left and then rolled up to pick it up and I feel like so much leeway is given to having a chair line in the first place that you should be able to respect the "rules". Everyone else is carrying their chair.

This all sounds so stupid typing it out.

I was only kidding about him actually being anywhere near the area, sounds like he definitely dumped his chair and left. You are right about too much leeway being given. There are a few too many people that take advantage of the chair situation.

    So for recap for data:

Got there at 3, was still less than 200 in line, got out of Tired Hands with beer in hand at exactly 6pm so pretty efficient I would say.

I got there at 4:30 and got my beer at 6:30.. not a pleasant wait (especially with it threatening to rain) but the Alien Church was amazing. Excited to crack a milkshake open tonight.

There must not have been many people added to the line between 3 and 3:45 because I got there at 3:45 and was out by 6:10. Seems the sweet spot is around 3:45-4:00 for the least amount of line waiting (chair method aside).

Can't believe they went through 680 allotments by 7:45. That is crazy. That means most likely 800+ people went through there as I saw plenty of people not getting full allotment.

I think you (and many others) have developed some bizarre version of beer consumer Stockholm Syndrome when you consider waiting 3 hours an "efficient" way to buy beer.

I was thinking this too. And that doesn't mean it's not worth it - I've certainly traveled far distances and waited in line for beer - but I wouldn't call it efficient.

If you're the 200th person in line for cans at Treehouse you're out in, at most, 45 minutes. I was planning on hitting a Tired Hands release when I go to Philly in May but this thread has me thinking otherwise. I'm not spending three hours of a vacation weekend to pay $50 for eight cans.

Actually "waited" for about an hour and 20, was in the ferm the rest. and it's helsinki syndrome (top gear fans?).

also this double vanilla is amazing.

I wonder what Tree House does differently? I will say with the various Tired Hands releases when I get near the front of the line they always seem to be moving things along pretty efficiently. They usually have 3 registers going - does Tree House have more than that? The other thing I always found strange was they stopped accepting Apple Pay because they said it slowed things down too much. Apple Pay should be quicker than credit card.

I assume milkshake sold out last given the batch size.

    Tree House does two things:
    1. the limit is usually so low that everyone always buys the full allotment, last time I was there I walked out with 8 cans total.
    2. the line is also for growlers, the crew comes out and passes out cards so that you can fill out your order and they can start doing the fills before you even get in the door. this is efficient to a point and still requires waiting but if you just want cans you can usually just walk in and out.

from door open to getting my beer in an hour while being about 200 deep was where i was commenting on the efficiency part.

I think you've re-enforced my point! You're clarifying the number of hours, when 99% of beer drinkers would say you are insane if you spend more than 5 minutes buying beer.
