Stopped by 18th Street today. Had twisted doom. I can honestly say I loved twisted doom. Loved it more than the noon whistle gummy series(note: I loved those too) Loads of pineapple and guava, passionfruit and extremely low bitterness. I felt the gummy series had more bitterness where as this is all juice and fruit.

All juice and fruit with low bitterness? Easy pass for me then.

I know it was mentioned earlier, but tomorrow is Pollyanna's release of their first NEIPA:

We're also jumpin' on the haze craze and releasing our first ever Northeast-style IPA, so cleverly named, "Do You Even Juice, Bro?" Brotally hopped and br-oated up, this beer'll make you wanna be a bro-getter.

Because juice heads love some fresh nectar, we're live bottling this juicy goose from 12-1pm so you can literally buy a bomber directly off the line. Get here early bro-getters! That's some hella fresh haze!

Sorry to go backwards on the thread, but what are people's thoughts on Snooze Juice (Forbidden Root)? I'm thinking of grabbing a howler tonight.

I really like Snooze Juice, it's my favorite from the Forbidden Root NE styles.

On another note, I picked up the most recent batch of Cirrus and was disappointed in it, which is too bad for me because I really like Cumulus and Stratus.

I was actually about to track some down today. I thought the first batch mainly just looked like the style, the taste really didn't do much for me. I was hoping they'd improve on it if they did a second batch, so we'll see. Did you have the first batch at all? How does this batch compare?

I didn't have the first batch of Cirrus, which is why I was excited when I saw it as I really liked Cumulus and Stratus.

The appearance from the one can I cracked last night was a lot darker in color than I was expecting. Will crack another one tonight to see if that's consistent among them.

The taste seemed to me pretty thin and watery.

That's about where I'm at. Not driving out to the burbs for their sexy NE beers (Noon Whistle/Mikerphone/18th Street), not doing the KBS release weekend in Chicago, so about the only thing left to try IPA wise is Forbidden Root.

    Edit:

That being said, it looks like HA has a bunch of IPAs/Pales I haven't tried.

We've got a sitter tonight to hit up the KBS release at Sheffield's and have a sitter tomorrow while we go to Lagunitas for tour and hanging out, so I was considering hitting Forbidden Root as well while out on the town. I'd like to try some of their beers straight from the source, and see how Snooze Juice fares amongst the competition. I figure while we have a sitter, might as well try to knock off a place I haven't been to.

I personally thought Snooze Juice was pretty average. I really liked Death by Snu Snu, though. I am not sure what is on tap now.

I still have two cans from the first batch in my fridge. Its one of the most unpleasant beers I have had from Hailstorm. Something about it has this creamy, dairy flavor that I can't get over. My advice would be to stay away from this beer, but to each their own.

Stopped into 18th St (Hammond) on my way back from Grand Rapids today and picked up a 4pk of Twisted Doom. It definitely checks everything off my preference list of the style. Big juicy aroma, soft mouthfeel, touch of sweetness with a lingering tropical hop flavor and low bitterness. Sort of reminds me of the early MI batches of TJIL that I've had (I have a dream that one day we won't have to specify batches of the same beer).

Also, the label on the can is a sticker. As in you can easily peel it off and put it on something. Which is great if you like stickers, but a nightmare if you're like me and unintentionally hoard stickers because you can't commit to sticking them on anything.

I got 2 4 packs of twisted doom the day they released. Was gonna get just 1 but the bartender pretty much said "you sure - it's soooo good". Twist my arm.

I don't love it quite to the extent of some of the others on this thread but I do think it's really good and for 26 bucks, I'll gladly take down 12 oz 6-8 times over the next month plus (may give a couple to friends. Maybe).

I got a little more bitterness than some of the versions of this style, and it wasn't as soft in the mouthfeel department as others. That's not being said in a bad way. As some have mentioned - it's bursting with aroma! Hard to describe, but it kind of feels like the type of NE IPA I'd expect 18th street to make. I think I liked their first one a tad better (twisted engagement) but like I said, this was a good one and I bet they'd do really well if they made a larger batch and distributed it.

Anyone going to Imperial Oak or Pollyana for their NE style IPA releases today?
