CounterWeight s not Treehouse or Trillium.Not Green or even close to comparable nor do they claim to be hazy IPAs. However everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

 

CW will never be those two - Matt can actually brew a Pilsner.

 

Just cracked a can of SC - all I can do is laugh at this. SC is very good, but..

Taste is subjective, but this one isn't even remotely close for me. The comparison is flawed in the first place, but one can't touch the other.

Touché. I guess I should have said "personally" before one can't touch the other.

I could name probably 10+ Galaxy beers I'd take before Space Coyote without hesitation.

Not to mention two entirely different beers looking for different things.

 

Upon inspection, I said "for me". Was pretty clear.

 

Well, that's too bad. I'm disappointed Space Coyote doesn't crack your top 10 Galaxy focused IPAs.

 

Not sure your deal, but I raved about Workhorse, The Void, and Headway.. so not sure what your issue is with the snarky responses.

It is what it is. I'm sorry my review and thoughts didn't coincide with yours. The beer isn't that special, sorry - the Untappd reviews are right. Didn't think it was a very special showcase of Galaxy whatsoever. I have plenty left though to re-evaluate, but initial impressions don't blow me away.

 

Wasn't trying to be snarky (other than maybe misreading the subjective taste post). Sorry.

Let's refrain from any comparisons (myself included).

 

I came in here trying to see how their first day of tap room operation went. Instead everyone's arguing about which beer is better than what. Why can't we just appreciate both breweries and be glad a new great place opened up in CT. It's not a competition...

In the vein, how crowded was the tap room today? I meant to stop by but totally forgot

 

Amen.....happy to see another brewery open in the state / region. We all have our personal preferences, but choice is a good thing. Think back to 20+ years ago and what our options were compared to now!

 

I agree. I try not to spark arguments but provoke discussion. Sometimes it comes off wrong. My bad. At 12:30 there was no line for cans and 15 min wait for pours. Matt was helping out on the can sales which was nice to see. Cheers all

 

Agreed, that's partially my fault, I apologize. I think we are very spoiled to have a place like this open up in CT.

I will say, I got towards the end of my can and felt the beer really opened up.

 

Reminded me of a Julius x Supernaut. Dank, excellent and only 6%

 

Nicely done, Counter Weight peeps! Showed up on Sunday afternoon around 3pm. Good crowd. Headway and Void pours. Both are really, really solid. There were four more beers on tap. Only had Void cans left at that point, but there were still cans available for those interested. Looking forward to coming back again.

 

Which beer?

 

I stopped by Sunday at opening. Great space downstairs and especially upstairs which has a view of the coolship. Judging by the Grissette good things are definitely coming.

 

Just as an FYI since people seemed to have missed it. Space Coyote isn't going to be the same beer every time.



Seems safe to assume that the cans were Galaxy while the draft was a new batch with Mosaic.

 

I just cracked a can and have to take my comments back, and apologize to GaryChalmers - this is tasting great right now for a 6%'er. Has that old NEBCO feel for me, almost like a slightly higher ABV Galaxy Pale. I do feel the nose is muted a bit, but this is a very balanced beer an easy drinker. Still wouldn't say it showcases Galaxy like a TH/Trill/Hill, but it's a perfect balance with the malt bill, which is something I can appreciate.

I also will say, the Space Coyote on tap was very, very muted to me. I noticed the board saying it was with Mosaic, but the hops were a simple background note to the malt bill.

Counterweight is going to be saving my car some miles this year.

 

My comment was based from the can.
