Route 3 on saturday

 

Me and the girlfriend are flying in to Brussels on Thursday. We booked Route 4 on Saturday and Route 5 on Sunday.

 

Route 3 on Saturday ! See you guys around

 

Bus 8 on saturday

 

Route 10 for the weekend. Can't wait!

 

Any advice / recommendations on where to stay (area) would be appreciated. Are the pick up locations easy / cheap to get to from the centre of Brussels? Can you get on the bus at any of the breweries on the route?

 

There is a pretty nice hotel in Halle, it right across from the station. Halle is a 10 minute train ride from Brussel and 5 minutes to Boon (Lembeek)

Bus 4 both days.
Hope pace is slower with the two days to better enjoy each place with more time for properly enjoying a glass versus tastes.
If out in Debderleeuw in the evening , need to go by De Herren de Liedekerke for a meal. One of great beer restaurants in Belgium.
In Brussels, Resto Biers is great also, the chef/ owner Alian, is awesome, ask about history on Belgian royals and order a La Chouffe if there are any kids at nearby tables. Looking forward to seeing how his upstairs renovation has progressed over last couple years and see what new beers he has to try.

Route #3 on Sat!

Who knows how to get back to Brussels centre from De Heeren after midnight? I'm tempted to rent a car to go to 3F, 3F restaurant and De Heeren on Friday, and then to In Grote Dorst on Sunday. I arrive Friday 9am by train, and depart Sunday 2:30pm by train.

Anyone want to split my hotel May 5-7? Let me know!

 

Apologies if this has already been covered (I did check, honest!), but could someone explain what happens with the bus routes, stops and timings?

I.e. 4 breweries per day, do you get 2 hours in each brewery, then the bus driver shouts he's leaving for the next brewery and you have to leave?
Can you only get on that route specific bus? Can you join your route-group later?

 

Does anyone know anything about the 2017 Horal megablend yet?

Taking a private tour bus both days with some other related special events at the breweries and restaurants. Really looking forward to it. We will stay in Aalst because we are also going to some breweries north of their.

 

What private tour bus? How can I join this next year?

 

Next TdG is in 2019. It's a bi-annual event.

 

This, at least in 2015. There was a single HORAL bus per route, a commercial bus driver and a (on our bus at least) Lambikstoemper beer guide. Each brewery you join a guided tour, get a sample and have a little time to buy/taste their other beers. Then the bus moves on. It does end up feeling a little bit rushed, but it is super convenient.
