An additional piece to the puzzle. At the time the article you quoted was written the author was stating there were still glass lined tanks in Newark where canning of RR was to continue after the bottling line was shut down. The label about finishing in glass lined tanks does not appear on bottles for whatever reason. (He says after checking the label on the Pony in the fridge, etc.)

So if that labeling is still in use on cans and the cans are still coming out of the Newark canning line it is probably accurate.

Well, except for the claimed location of those tanks:

The slogan was on the rear label - do the current bottles have a back label or did they drop it? Last time I looked, it was one of those clear plastic /self-adhesive things.

I suppose they're coming from Baldwinsville for PA-purchased RR? There'd be a "B" somewhere in the date code.

As near as I can make out there is a "B" in the code on our bottles. (As you know the printing isn't always the clearest.)

These pony bottles have printing on the back of the label which is readable through the bottle and which basically says they are quoting the original pledge.

It then goes on to include the original 33 pledge that is completely enclosed in quotes.

So the wording pictured on the label that you display here isn't on the bottle except as a part of a quotation of the the original pledge of quality, and that is clearly identfied as being a complete direct quotation of that original pledge. So there's no direct statement that the beer in the bottles we have here ever saw those glass lined tanks in Latrobe or anywhere else.
