As for the first question, the discussion stuff I read did not go down that path. However, I suspect that vibration was one of the small considerations that reinforced their decision, made on other grounds, to build a brewery nearer the East Coast than Chico CA. It costs more money, time and vibration to ship beer on a temperature controlled truck from CA to PA than from NC to PA. It may have also had an influence their decision to switch to "oxygen scavenging" caps for their bottled beer.

I don't think their goal is to get totally vibration free beer, just vibration reduced beer. The effects of vibration seem, in some ways, to be like the effects of temperature. Some temporary warmth isn't a big problem for beer and they don't try to totally eliminate it completely, just aim for a bit of control over when and how much. There's a reason several brewers ask that their beers be kept refrigerated. (There are even one or two who are in the posititon of being able to enforce that "request" with their distributors and their retail outlets.)

So, as I said, the folded blanket on the floor may indeed be overkill, but my experience with bottled Seltzer waters and bringing them home from the Grocery store is consistent with the idea vibration can be a potential problem with forcing CO2 out of the liquid, at least temporarily.

While I think I may have misremembered or gotten a few details confused, the discussion in this thread may be of interest to you:

OTH, when you're making a four hour round-trip to buy a couple thousand bucks worth of tasty beverages, throwing an old blanket on the floor is cheap, relatively painless insurance.

    Exactly.

Costs virtually nothing in time, money and effort and could be preserving some of the unique qualities of the beer you bring back.

I use table salt since there is a slight possibility I might ingest some.
