Greatest annual thread ever! Let's crush it and hit at least 125 pages!
    So far we've discussed:
    • The Dark Lord Day date change
    • The ticket price change
    • No more vouchers
    • How to get tickets and how tickets were obtained
    • Variants no longer being guaranteed and replaced with two vintage bottles of Dark Lord when they run out
    • Dark Lord Day survival tips
    • Bands (@zach60614)
    • Possible variants
    • Dark Lord Day weather
    • Pub ticket sales
    • Exploding hot sauce
    • Decrease in variants (styles)
    • Rumored Dark Lord Handjee infection, variants gone bad, and/or missing variants
    • Lines
    • North gate vs South gate
    • Random silliness and debauchery
    • @croush being a poopy head
I'm sure I've missed several things. I'd like to talk more about the food at DLD. Likes, dislikes, wants, snacks people bring, what you eat after DLD...

I do feel like I need to step up my food & snack game this year, especially if I end up in line earlier than last year. I think I did a bag of honey roasted peanuts and a Clif bar that I brought with me last year...and I only ate the Clif bar. I tried to get some food with my vouchers, but the line was way too long so I bailed. I must have had something else in order to drink so much from 9 until 4 or 5, but I can't remember for the life of me. I remember strongly thinking about Doner Men, but skipped out on it.

I had a bunch of stuff in my bag last year that I never touched (cliff bars as well, pretzels, jerky, possibly something else).

I think I might bring a dozen doughnuts to share in line this year.

I'll add another topic since I'm visiting FFF today. Just noticed they are building a new hotel adjacent to Centennial Park (at least it looks like a hotel). I assume it will be ready by 2018 DLD. So another hotel option well more within walking distance than Hampton. Cheers to options.

Apologies if this was mentioned before, but this is the first time I've seen it.

It's going to be a SpringHill Suites by Marriot. Opens this upcoming Fall.

Any news on the distillery? Giant building, no product?

I really like the FFF tacos at Dark Lord Day. I highly recommend them. Haven't tried any of the other foods there yet. I always bring with a Costco sized container of pretzels or pub mix that I share with everyone throughout the day.

A friend went on a private tour of the new building like.....2 years ago and swears he had a white whiskey. So its possible that all that distillate is currently resting in barrels?

Munster Donut is the way to go. Every bit as good as the gourmet donuts made in Chicago, but for Dunkin Donuts prices, not the $4-5 per donut the gourmet places charge.

I suppose it could be. Plus, part of that building is supposed to be an expansion of the brewery if I read it correctly.

Yeah that whole building is not the distillery.

As for food, last year I got the poutine early when the line was still manageable and it was excellent. I brought some granola bars in, but I think I only ate one. For breakfast, I only had a bagel for breakfast on the way up. Needless to say, all that was insufficient.

This year, in addition to having a heavy breakfast, I'm bringing a batch of my triple chocolate Breakfast Stout brownies to share in line. Come find me, they're delicious!

$4-5?! Even Donut Vault isn't that bad.

I got a local place that's good at $10.05 per "dozen" (they usually give me 13 or 14).

Yeah that shit is bullshit around here. I've had a few for the novelty of it but a 4 dollar donut is ******ed.

    Speaking of donuts
Last year I had the beers to share, water and 2 bags of hostess chocolate donettes in my backpack. I know lil chocolate donuts always sound good. Next morning finished off the 2nd bag on the way home.
Really, don't over think it just take something that always sounds good

I like to bring a bunch of white castle. It's nice to snack incrementally throughout the day. It's more substantial than pretzels, but less of a commitment than brining a burrito or something.

Plus, Dark Lord Day is much better ventilated than Fobab. Which, you know, bodes well for the farts.
