A friend sent me a can of Laser Raptor and I was not disappointed. Great mouthfeel and super smooth for 8ish%. I just wish it wasn't seemingly in the middle of nowhere so my friends had easier access, because I've loved every beer I've had from them.

Aslin is in Fairfax County, which is the 10th largest school district in the United States. I'd hardly call that "middle of nowhere".

Anyone have any insight as to whether the collab beers this week are NE style? Never had any beers from Sand City or Triple Crossing.

I'm sure they are, I don't believe Aslin has brewed very many beers that aren't NE style. I'm not convinced they know how.

Sand City and Triple Crossing both brew NE style IPAs too.

Interesting that the case counts are remaining at ~300 total per week, yet the limits are going up to 1.5cs//pp.

I'm not sure what it tells YOU... it tells ME that other people, like me, are stopping or cutting back on standing in line and buying $5->16oz beers that are not necessarily right all the time.

And that Aslin does like selling through their beer and going home (who wouldn't!).

Nice little synthesis here. The way I look at is since they put out a good amount of beer and want to sell out of it within the week of operations they have to find a sweet spot on how to sell out that week. No tasting room hurts them in a number of way, so selling out is the best option.

Another issue is that its hard to convince a local non-craft beer nerd to wait in line for 1.5 hours. I talked to one of the owners and their goal is to be able to have cans every time a person comes in, but still sell out of max production at a certain level.

IMO, now that they have the brite tank things are looking up for them. Last week's beers were bright and clean. I ran into a mug club member and he said he tried this weeks beers and said they were great.

Also as they have produced more beer, their prices have gone down per beer over the past month depending on style.

Actually DDH Dunley Place went up from the first time it was released (5.25 vs 5.50), I haven't notice prices for anything dropping (BSB is the same price).

With 300 + cases this week, would have been nice to see them put the limits at 8 or 10 per beer so that half the allocations weren't being reserved for the mug club.

People had no issues waiting when limits were 8-12 beers total.

It is the same people waiting in line, plus a few new folks. Very few entitled consumers in the Northern VA area will wait in line for a beer they haven't tried. Take a look each week and you will see a majority of the same people. The way the craft beer market is moving, IMO, they need to open a tasting room to grow that demand or find a way to get more people to try their product. The catch 22 is since they see way lower margin on canned beer vs. draft pours it turns into a quantity game. Which is something they don't want to do because they need to focus on quality.

Moral of the store is that I expect prices to fall in line with the Trilliums of the world (because it isn't fair to compare prices to Veil, Treehouse, or even Bissel, etc because of their relative location and cost of being located there).

As it relates to prices I was looking at Joose Pun at $4.75 for a DIPA and this weeks for the same price. I think they price a bit higher because they allow single can purchases, which I am unsure if that is common or not?

I'm having a Joose Pun right now and it's on point--it hadn't quite come together when it was brand new last week, but it's pretty fine tonight.

I thought there was some assumption/understanding that everyone in Mug Club was taking a full "allotment" and the posted numbers were for the peasants

When I asked, I was told the count posted on social media was BEFORE mug club sales and they would not post an updated number after mug club sales. Would be nice if they would update the number left for us that wait in line/non-local.

They opened up early because of the huge storm. I showed up at 3pm and 2 people were in front of me. I'm gonna guess they have a lot of beer left.

They had probably 8 cases of each beer left as of 7pm tonight. I'd assume they'd have a little bit of each left when they open tomorrow. Another success for Aslin.

Drinking a BSB right now and it's very good. Definitely Mosaic forward. Lighter in body and only lightly hazy. Dank and grassy. Really tasty and different from what they've done before.
