If you go to google images and search "razzle," you'll see what will surely be the source of disappointment among a lot of DLD music fans.

What I just read about razzles makes me really happy that I like local beer.

I understood it to be a raffle where the price of a ticket is the value of the prize, divided by the number of tickets available. Prize provider (seller) gets market value, ticket buyers get fairly good odds.

All of the good "hazy" beers razzle for significantly more than cost. Monkish, Tired Hands, Bissell, Tree House, Trillium's best stuff, Aslin, Civil Society.

Razzles are a fantastic way to acquire beer (IF you enjoy gambling). The group I'm in usually razzles based on the Mega Millions drawings every Tuesday and Friday. For example, a 4 pack of Monkish will razzle at $6/spot. So the seller gets 15x$6 = $90 for 4 beers and everyone else can gamble at getting some beer they're seeking for relatively cheap.

EDIT: And if you don't think there is a BA stout craze, I'm not sure what planet you live on. Every brewery is throwing their beer in barrels these days. And to stay on topic, I've got high hopes for Flourescent after seeing it has Nelson. Half Acre doesn't use Nelson a whole lot.

Just glad not to see any Equinox hops in this one. Seems like HA got a little Equinox crazy with some of their beers lately, which is a huge negative for me... That disgusting God-forsaken wild root.

I'm not following this razzle logic. If you do razzles all the time, by the law of large numbers, you are paying, on average, the full razzle price for any beer you buy. So $90 for a 4-pack of Monkish. Seems like a shady way for con artists to scam a bunch of people into collectively paying excessive prices for beer rather than having to convince a single person to take on that entire burden. Maybe I need to get into the razzle game...

Also, I'm pretty excited for fluorescent. I don't think I've had anything Nelson-forward from HA, and I imagine that hop profile would play well with the typical HA base.

Your logic (or the razzle concept's lack of logic) is correct. Most people who enter razzles also razzle beer off, so it kind of comes out as a wash for them. The thing is, the prices aren't excessive. They're actually getting the secondary price. A can of Monkish (sadly) goes for about $20 secondary. They'll get $90 for a 4-pack and that includes the cost of shipping, so if a NYC guy wins the razzle, shipping is nearly $20 so the guy gets $70 for a 4-pack of Monkish which is pretty much right at secondary.

Glad to know I'm not missing something in being unable to remember a predominantly Nelson-hopped IPA from HA.

According to their website it is still available and I've not known their website to be inaccurate in the past. They keep it up to date. Can always confirm @ 773-248-4038

I'm out of town through Sunday, so hoping Flourescent makes it through the weekend. I think the other HA can releases have, but you never know.

I just got into a local Razzle Group. I got a Very Hazy and two Lights On by Tree House for $4.00, but I've lost about $15.00 on others so far. For someone who doesn't gamble much, it is fun.

Had a small pour of Fluorescent after grabbing cans. It's really good! Also, 2015 Vanilla Big hugs is on at the taproom.
