I think you're probably right about generating hype, so there is that. My main thought was just that I can't imagine as many people will go out to Lombard as would grab their beer in Chicago proper.

On the other hand, RAM was going great with their releases, so maybe I underestimate the amount of people willing to drive around the suburbs?

 

I think you do, as do most people. There were people lining up hours before the doors opened at RAM for Morning Fog

Just wait until More opens....

 

I agree in that it's cool for the brewery and all.
But I'm with Sean because it sucks for me personally, lol.
Because I don't have a car, so I'm not going to the burbs, not going to ride a train to the burbs, so I probably won't end up tasting these unfortunately.

 

Blows my mind, honestly. But I'm also not as obsessed with NE stuff as I could be, so I suppose that's part of it.

edit: Also, Miker is a special animal (not to detract from the general point), since Mike built up a huge following in the city before peacing out. Either way though, yeah. I'm impressed with the commitment people have.

 

Since we are talking about what's best for oneself and not the brewery necessarily, I hope Mikerphone, Noon Whistle and More never start distro anywhere but out of their brewery. Easier for me to get without it running out too quickly. It keeps people from the city less motivated.

I hated having to go into city for some Half-acre stuff so brewery only distro model in the suburbs works well for me in this case.

 

Since Noon already distributes to the city (just not NE stuff) I would imagine that you'll probably not get your wish for them or Mike's stuff. More, on the other hand...

How about this: I'll just petition the CTA to make an expansion line out to some of these breweries. I'll let you know what I come up with for the name/color of the line.

 

As a Lombardian I selfishly agree with those three keeping it local.

Then again I drive to the city or Naperville for Rev or Solemn Oath releases, so I don't mind brewery only distro.

Love being $5-$10 Uber's away from Lunar, Noon Whistle, and soon to be More.

 

Somebody call the city of Lombard and complain.

 

CTA "Haze Train"

 

That's probably not a bad idea. Maybe have each stop be a different brewery? As for line color, whatever it is it should be hazy. And not just hazy but that Tree House/Trillium kind of hazy.

I forgot Noon Whisle did distro to city. I never look for it there I guess. As for Mikerphone, has he disto'd into city since he opened up his place in Elk Grove? Again, never look for it in the city any more so I don't know.

 

Noon Whistle is about $10 from Lombard station.
Lunar is about a quarter mile from the villa park station, and I can't imagine More being more than $5 from the vp station.

The Union Pacific West line may have to start thanking these breweries

As some have alluded - a lot of us don't have to drive that far to get to Lombard.

Not badmouthing anyone's point but just remember a few factors for Morning Fog: it was a Friday morning release. It was also like 12/30 so many people weren't working. Just things to consider.

 

Went to Noon Whistle today around 5 with the girlfriend. Place was a kind of packed. Not really surprising though because the weather was really nice. They had the garage door open and outdoor seating available too. Had Let's Gummy and liked it. Not sure I liked it as much as either of the Vortex or the Mosaic one, but certainly good enough and I'd order it again for sure.
