Being in Wicker Park, I'd say Binny's Lincoln Park, but there are other shops up north in the vicinity of where you'll be staying. I know of Bitter Pops, Capone's, The Beer Temple and Bottles and Cans. Those are some of the places I stop when out in that neck of the woods, being that I'm in the sloop. Hopefully others that are from that area will chime in and can be of help.

I'm in that area, and I'd say the best places in WP proper that should be walkable for bottles are:
    Liquor Park
    Go Grocer
    Garfield's
... if you're heading to Binny's, it'll be an Uber and the Lincoln Park location is the closest, but they also have a tasting room in the back to try drafts/bottles

For drafts there are plenty of restaurant/bars usually with good taplists, but I'd say depending on location:
    Fat Pour
    Bangers & Lace
    Links Taproom
Tapster (new pour your own place)
... but plenty more places depending on if you also want dinner (Lillie's Q has good BBQ and usually has a few good beers on tap, Estelle's & Remedy are late night bars with good taps, etc.)

If you're looking for anything specific, let me know and I can try to help out more.

As far as bar, I recommend Links Taproom & The Map Room in that area.

Well looks like I officially struck out on Parabola, hopefully it pops up on tap somewhere.

It will. You'll be fine. Its one of those beers I gave up chasing years ago and each year I see it tapped at least a couple of times.

Thanks! I don't actually know what's available in Chicago, but we will be going all over the place so the entire area is open so to say.

For beers, obviously BCBS Proprietors would be top of the list since I've never tried it, but I know that's a 0% chance. Anything else barrel aged I'd be up for trying, or taking home. Not sure if Central Waters, Jackie O's, 3 Floyd's, etc. are available in the area, or if there are any other delicious stouts and barelywines that I've probably never heard of, but things along those lines would be ideal.

If you are looking for prop you could try to set up an IP trade. Thats really your only bet. As for GI - Grand Prestige is out right now - its a Bourbon barrel aged quad I think? but its reminiscent of a barleywine and its remarkably reasonable at around $8 for a 750 ml bottle. I've seen several cases at area Binnys

CW does make its way down here - there may be some CW bourbon barrel stout around still at some places - If I find it anywhere Ill let you know. We are expecting CW barleywine soon but not sure when that will hit shelves.

Jackie O's doesn't see Chicago distro.

You'll find 3 Floyds beer in Chicago, but to find bottles of say Behemoth - those are only at the Brewery and likely long gone now.

Wiseacre has a barrel aged stout on shelves in Chicago - Astronaut Status - thats well worth grabbing.

Rev has some great barrel aged beers and Straightjacket their barleywine was recently released - you should be able to find that somewhere. Its a bit pricey but well worth it.

As @FBarber said, you may want to set up and IP trade if possible. If you're looking for '13 or '14 Prop, you'll need quite a bit to get those, but '16 Prop should be easily attainable (I have one I could spare if you're interested). People around here (including me) will also have some of the CW & 3 Floyds stuff that isn't around now, and I wouldn't be shocked if someone has some Jackie O's available for trade, even though they don't distribute here.

Other than that, there are plenty of great places to go to. Some of my favorite stores are Binny's Lincoln Park, The Beer Temple and Bottles & Cans. For bars, I like Local Option and Hopleaf, as well as Sheffield's. For food, I recommend getting over to Kuma's Corner for a burger (Bad Apple is also good, which is kitty corner from Half Acre). Breweries - Half Acre, Revolution, Goose Island. I'd recommend Forbidden Root as well, although I haven't been...I want to.

Welcome to my hood! Go to Links Taproom on just south of the Milwaukee/Damen/North intersection. It is down milwaukee. They will have a ton of Chicago beers on tap. For bottles, shoot down North ave. to the Lincoln Park Binny's. It's huge.

PS: You are very close to the Revolution brewpub so go check it out! They'll have stuff to go and their food is pretty good!

Also, Tapster just opened. It is right underneath the Damen blue line stop. They have about 30-35 beers on tap and you pour your own beer. Pretty cool place.

But behemoth is a barleywine and @wolf13 asked about barleywines in addition to stouts. And rue is a porter, right? So stout, porter, tomato, tomahto ...

Yeah Logan Square in general is awesome. You got the Radler for good German food/beer, emporium has good beer list, and if you need a change of pace the distillery has good cocktails. Milwaukee between California and Fullerton is probably my favorite block in the city.

Anyone know of any places that still have Astronaut Status on the shelf? Preferably in the Roscoe Village / Lakeview area?

Yeah, solid milk stout but pretty light on the hazelnut in my opinion.

How palates differ from person to person is the best. I got a ton of hazelnut in the bottle I had, and it made the beer for me. I'm not huge on milk stouts, in fact I usually turn them down unless there's an adjunct I'm a big fan of in it. The hazelnut came in on the tail end of it, and was perfectly balanced - I'll probably go back tomorrow to see if I can pick up another bottle!
