I second this vote for Ohio. Perhaps someone from Cleveland or Columbus can chime in too, but I can tell you that as a beer-crazy city, Cincinnati is second to none. It was a popular destination for German immigrants in its early days and beer is in the blood of its people. There are multiple beer-related events throughout the year in Cincinnati. Finally, let's not forget that Hoppin' Frog and Thirsty Dog are also Ohio-based breweries. Also, you heard it here first, Oval Brewing. Remember that name.

Another Ohio brewer to remember is Wooster brewing Co/JAFB. I'm not sure what their long term plan is, and it's kinda in the middle of nowhere, but the beer is awesome and being done by an award winning brewer. It's an hour away from me and i get down there every chance I get.

I think the amount of love that is proclaimed for German beers by a select group of BA's outweighs all the love for American beers.

Definatly NC. They have so many great breweries like: olde hickory, foothills, duck-rabbit, mother earth, highland. It's definatly a mecca for good beer

Kentucky is a very under-rated beer state. In Louisville you have Bluegrass Brewing Company, Against The Grain and Cumberland Brewery (and there's also Apocalypse that I haven't tried their brews yet), and I've heard Country Boy and West Sixth from Lexington are making good stuff too. I'm never disappointed when I go there!

New Hampshire. Doesn't seem to get as much love as VT, ME, and MA and just had some restrictive legislation lifted which makes for an even better future.

So here is the question then....California, Colorado or Michigan as best beer state? I personally go Cali and Colorado as 1 and 2 respectivily. Im a midwest boy but must say the west coast just knows how to do beer the best.
