KBS 2017 in California

Had some of this year's off draft this evening....burnt coffee, watered down....bleh. Glad I got to try it before I went out for a bottle. Not a fan this year.

 

No clue what the hell you guys are drinking, cause I think KBS is great.

 

Maybe it's all the BA speedway I have ingested over the years but this doesn't even come anywhere near that in terms of flavor and enjoyment for me.

 

I agree BA Speedway is better, but BA Speedway isn't available at my local store for $7.99. I think KBS is awesome for what it is and IMO is in the same tier as Parabola and Bourbon County

 

On 4/7 I went into the Elk Grove Total Wine. They had 3 cases of KBS on the floor - I cleared out the top case so 2 cases left and who knows they might have more in inventory. Cost was $22.99/4 and I had a $1 to apply to that. So BA go clear them out.

 

Well not everyone can have great taste buds. Thats why u drink and like kbs. Its really not good. Way to bitter. PASS.

 

Or Parabola drinkers.

I did pick up a bottle of KBS yesterday, as I do every year, hoping to be surprised. Let's just say my expectations are exceedingly low.

 

For some weird reason people keep bringing up Parabola to this thread. They are both barrel aged stouts, that's the end of the similarities.

For the record I like KBS better

Think they had more inventory. When I got there yesterday afternoon, they had 3.5 cases on the floor.

 

It's not weird, the'yre both released at roughly the same time and are competing for "expensive beer" dollars. To some of us, Parabola is superior in every way--including having coffee and chocolate notes without the use of adjuncts!

 

Any idea which Costco?

 

i dunno man. thread title is fairly specific. it doesn't mention anything about please describe competing titles &/or those anyone feels is superior in anyway.

suppose you genuinely asked for directions to get to Oakland & numerous individuals returned responses : San Jose > Oakland. OR. San Diego has much better beaches, with bigger waves & zero trash, which some of us prefer!

 

locally San Francisco & South San Francisco stores had lots of it (last week). not sure now.

not sure this helps but by receipt the code for my bottle = 1149158 Founders KBS. maybe try contacting locations in your area to see if they have product under that same code? lastly if the code does work or if you get them to find the product by name in the system, but they don't have any at the specific location - do ask them to look at surrounding locations' inventory to see if there is any stock at other locations.

 

Carmel Valley had it, that is the only one I go to. I saw pictures from friends with it at the costco off of Morena

 

I'd disagree with you there. BCS was/is way smoother than KBS. Haven't had this year's Parabola, but last year's would blow it out the water. So many better none-ba stouts on the shelf. I haven't ran into anyone, in person, who has had anything good to say about it. Gave a bottle to a friend during this weekend's UFC, he took a few sips, and was disappointed. He doesn't know much about craft brew world, so he was not aware of the hype. I gave him a BA Ten Fiddy, and he said KBS was many levels below BATF. No, no one finished it.

 

I just called Morena and they don't carry it. I asked about that sf sku and they said they never got it. So is it under a different sku or proof to this sd Costco getting it?
