I just brought beer to Mexico. Only allowed 3 liters per person. I went a little over with no issues.

Wasn't planning on having the newest released HB beers, but the lady picked up both. Having the Telehopic right now and can say that I'm not too impressed. Still has that same yest taste that some of the others have had. It reminds me of banana and some other fruity quality I cannot place. Oh well, here's to hoping they get it together soon.

I'm drinking the last of my most recent pickup of Triptych Dank Memes (canned 3/9/17) - and yea, I know it isn't Chicagoland - but if you get the chance to try it, its well worth it. Definitely can hold its own against a solid number of the NE style IPAs coming out of Chicagoland.

Pitcher of Nectar is on tap again @ Tighthead. Having a snifter and would give it a solid 4. Does not seem to be as cloudy as the previous iteration but has a nice bite to it. Pretty comparable to the cloud series from Hailstorm. Worth a try if you are in the neighborhood.

I thought Telehopic was really good. Not really NE style. But a damn solid IPA.

I'm still waiting for the quality of Your Wish, Alemerica, Galaxy #1. Telehopic tasted similar to Smoke and Mellotron to me, but to each their own.

I was able to get 3 oz or so of Twisted Doom in a bottle/can share with my buddies last weekend, and thought it was amazing. I actually might like this more than JIL.

I'm honestly starting to wonder if haze notwithstanding, it's the hop choices that are throwing people off. It seems like a lot of their most popular IPAs have been either single hop beers (Galaxy Bowl, Alemerica) or beers with what are, in my opinion, very complimentary hops (Galaxy and Mosaic in Destination Moon). They obviously have some kinks to work out in terms of yeast taste + overall look/feel (which they mostly nailed in GB 1, and haven't gotten quite there since), but what they're doing with hop combinations overall profile reminds me a little of Half Acre's one-offs, which is a positive in my mind (since so many people are doing a more standardized NE thing).

It's also possible whatever yeast they're using still isn't working with the hops for some people.

Tried Telehopic. Didn't enjoy. Felt like drinking sugar water. Needed some heavy pine notes to balance out the sweet or a ton more fruity hops to make it juicy. Instead it seemed like they combined two different hops that completely clashed with each other, similar to combining orange juice and toothpaste. That being said the were extremely subtle which just reinforced the feeling like it was one dimensional sugar water.

I enjoyed Mellotron and the Smoked Filled Room was good, if you like fruit added beers, which I don't. So I'm hoping they can figure this stuff out.

There's also the question of whether Hop Butcher has contracts in place with specific suppliers to provide them hops consistently. If they are just buying hops from different suppliers because they don't have contracts in place (they are a pretty small operation) then brewing the same beer and expecting it to taste the same isn't really realistic. Citra hop is not the same across all suppliers.

We're canning Really Dank Meme tomorrow and I think it holds its own better against NE style IPAs since it is actually an IPA. Dank Meme is really just supposed to be an American Pale Ale, it also doesn't go into that level of citrus juice the best NE IPAs do, in my humble opinion anyways.

I'll be heading downstate Sunday/Monday, so Ill have to look for this! Very excited to try it. Any idea when the Bloomington Binnys/Friar Tuck would get this? (Thats the easiest spot for me to stop)

Also, maybe you didn't mean for Dank Meme to be reminiscent of a NE style IPA, but its a better representation of the style than many beers that actually are trying to replicate the style.

Will it be available to purchase tomorrow? My brother lives in Champaign and will be heading up to Chicago this weekend - I'll have him grab some if it's available!

I got one Dank Meme as an extra from a friend, and it was fantastic! My buddy just mentioned he's going back downstate next weekend, so hopefully it's available/around then.

I would guess this will hit Bloomington mid/late next week. I do know that Dank Meme from 4/9/17 coded #¿Haze~Porque?, hit Bloomington yesterday.

If everything works as expected, 4-packs should be in our brewery cooler tomorrow when the taproom opens.
