Thankfully my father-in-law has family he likes to visit that lives in Indiana close to Munster. Both myself and whomever attends DLD with me chip in on gas and throw him some money for lunch. Whenever we are ready to leave I give him a call and we're good to go. It's basically an extremely reliable yet much cheaper version of Uber. I've already reserved my trip for this year :grinning:

Right there with you. My parents live 1.5 miles from FFF and have no problem picking up their inebriated son from DLD. Free room and board, plus a "shuttle service" to and from the event - it's a blessing

Me and my buds walked to and from the Hampton the last two years in the rain (we'll be walking again this year, only from the new Homewood next door to the Hampton). It isn't that bad. If I could do it drunk in a monsoon then anyone could do it on a decent day. Nice to get a wee bit of exercise in that day too.

So I would have to assume your Dad frequently gets the "Hey! FFF just released the latest BA beer! Can you pick one up for me?!"

Absolutely - plus he's retired, so he has no problem picking up for me. He's the reason I was able to get 6 bottles of Crack The Skye!

He keeps saying that he wants to attend DLD as well. I think he's under the impression that it's a tents, bags, hot dogs, shitty cover band type of event...

That sounds ideal, may give it a shot. But may be different this year due to construction.

    Tents - Typically 2
    Bags - D-Bags
Hot Dogs - Dark Lord Hot Dogs
Shitty cover band - Shitty...depends on your taste. Cover...no.

Last year was my first DLD. I showed up with a Timbuk2 messenger bag. It worked fine for the couple of bottles I brought to share, and I was able to get the DL home without any issue.

But I'll be taking these bag recommendations to heart and upgrading, and I'll probably be bringing a handful of the protective mesh covers they give out at Binny's to put on the DL after I receive my allotment. Not really sure how much they'll help to keep the bottles from breaking, but I'm sure they can't hurt.

I put bottles inside socks for protection from clanking. It both helps in that sense, and during the past two years it helped with having dry socks after ones being worn became soaked.

I've thought about doing the same thing. I've also considered that thin bubble wrap and will now consider socks thanks to @eifster82.

Which is the most iconic animal: Anheuser Busch's Clydesdale Horses or FFF's Beer Mules?

For what it's worth, current forecast says it's supposed to pour all next weekend, which would be the normal DLD I think. So possible bullet dodged so far.
