    Yes, 8.
I realize my post sounded a little dreary and I should clarify that I'm not saying it's bad by any means. I'd still pick it over 90% of other IPA's coming out of the state. Just seems to be missing something that the draft version had. (believe it was b7?)

*** EDIT *** Swirled last 1/4 of beer in the can to get the sediment, much more of the hop bite, definitely improved the flavor!

The reason why I asked about batch number was the cans a friend bought in the limited distro area a couple weeks ago were also 8. So I was curious if some got 8 and some got a new 9. I guess not. But I was thinking maybe this large distroed amount was 2 batches since the couldn't get enough in one.

Also. My standard operating procedure with any hazy IPA now (as I've gotten a few chunky pours from other beers/breweries), if I know I am going to drink it in a little bit I shake the shit out the can, put it back in the fridge for 15 min or so. Then pour. Does wonders.

No more chunks, flavor burst is all there, no super sediment pour at the end.

I've found a decent amount of variation in draft pours of "hazy IPAs". As folks have talked about shaking the can, I think there is also something to shaking the keg. Wonder if anyone can comment on keg maintenance?

I'm no expert on this by any means, but from observation, I've gotten two pours of the same hazy IPA from the same keg from the same place on different days and have had them look and taste very different. So I wonder if that could partially explain what you've experienced with Dirty Dank Juice.

On another note, kind of surprised to see that batch 8 M43 is what is being distributed. I mean, it's not old, but I feel like I bought batch 8 from a local store at least 2 weeks ago....

    I don't know about keg shaking ...
I've had M43 probably 5-6 times from keg at 3 different bars, and it has been consistently hazy.

I picked up a couple 4 packs of M43 today at Red Wagon and Whole Foods in Troy. It sounds like they didn't get in as much as they had hoped/ordered. Mars was also in, so that was cool since I probably won't see it in Chicago for a couple weeks.

Just picked up a couple 4 packs of M-43 at the Hardings Market in Richland for those that are in the Kazoo area.....They also had Boxer but will have to get that one next time.....Wasn't sure if I wanted to split what I had cash for.....Excited to finally try it out.

I had thought Boxer was brewery only - what is the distribution of that like? I'd love to try that as well and possibly pick some up while I'm Spring Break-ing in MI.

I'm not sure at all about the Boxer as far as distro....I was pretty surprised to see it there on the shelf never heard anything about that getting distro only M-43....
I may go back tomorrow and see if there still some boxer there....

Had to drop my son off an hour before his baseball game in Royal Oak, so I headed over for o Woodward to try to find some M43.
Was headed somewhere else, and noticed Pour. Turns out they were releasing it at 5:30. Perfect timing.
Had limit of a four pack each of M43 and Boxer. There were about a dozen waiting.

Drinking a batch 8 right now, and it's chalky. Great mouthful, zero "juice".

Could be my palette, but this seems too far...off...guess I will try another tomorrow.

In one of Old Nation's recent facebook posts, they mentioned sending out a small amount of Boxer to some stores....with this latest M43 release. They said something along the lines of "it being too small to even say anything about"

It's not Tree house Julius but I thought it was a dang good beer....Glad to see a localish brewery putting out a solid NEIPA...

    I agree with this.

Picked up a couple four packs of batch 8 today at my local. It's good, but it's not the same as the draft I had at monellis a couple weeks ago.

Oddly enough I thought the draft was missing just a bit of bitter at the finish. The cans I had tonight actually have some more bitter, but not in a good way?

I don't know, I'm probably being overly critical. To anyone reading this that hasn't tried it, don't let me deter you from buying. It's still a fantastic take on the haze craze and I hope we, the loyal Michigan beer snobs will continue to be blessed with this fine brew.

I will also add that if this style becomes available all the time I'm not so sure it would be one that I would buy ALL the time. I mean, I can see how I could want to go back to a standard, piney IPA at times.

I cracked an M43 tonight and thought it was pretty good. The aroma was definitely on point, and the initial taste seemed to be along the same lines. But, about the mid-palate point, it kinda faded and fell short. I have a problem with quite a few NE IPA's (Tree House included) in that I get a very rind-y citrus flavor/finish instead of more juice, so this avoided that. But, it isn't in the same class as something like Super Special Sauce from Mikerphone, which is one of my favorites.

However, if this does indeed end up being semi-regularly distributed to a good amount of stores in MI, everyone in the area should be really happy.

Not sure what's up, but don't base your decision on batch 8. Something isn't right...

    Hey, I'm saying it's good!

That being said...seeing some of the comments about differences people have noticed with this batch, I can see why people are a bit disappointed. I'd still put this up in a very respectable class.

From most of what I've experienced so far...."good" doesn't even begin to describe M43.

I just wanted to make sure I recommend trying another batch, and hopefully you will get the opportunity. I'll bring you a can to dld.

I can't recall a beer style being "under the microscope" more than the NEIPA in the last few years.

I do understand that this style is hyped-up more than any other currently with a benchmark from the Trilliums/Tree Houses of the NE and spreading rapidly across the Midwest with vigor, but let's not miss the quality of the currently brewed great beers available in our region.

I'm a very analytical, detail oriented personality but as I read posts here and other places I can't help but think that people might just be missing the joy and enjoyment of a good beer due to "over-scrutinization".

For the cost that this style demands I'm gonna take it for face value and independently determine if it's worth the price paid and hopefully drink with a smile on my face.......all this knowing that this style is in its infancy in our region and only going to get better!!!!

I would try another batch just based on this one, which seems to have underperformed compared to prior batches. So, if they dial it in to make future batches even better...even better.

Agree that this is not the same beer I have been getting growler fills of from Monelli's. It's still good just is kind of missing the mid-palate rush of OJ and pineapple.

Of course I am being hypercritical.
