    I'm
That would not stop FFF from charging $50 and people happily paying.

I'm cool with that. I'll be dead at that "cold and mid 30s" part of the day anyways

Have you guys had the Scotch BA Abyss? It was by far my favorite Abyss variant. If done well, Scotch barrels can do amazing things to a beer.

1st time DLD'er from Canada here. Unlike the documented lazies, I've taken in all 67 pages and ~2650 posts to-date -- because it quite appears that the DLD thread is part of the DLD experience!

There's so many people it seems bringing BA Darkness, Speedway variants, Abraxas, etc... and I have no Malort or Temeculan... so I'm planning on bringing the best Canadian stouts I have.
    • 2015 Half Pints BA Temps Noir
    • 2016 Driftwood Singularity
    • 2015 Nickelbrook Kentucky Bastard (BA)
    • 2013 Central City BA Thor's Hammer
    • 2016 Great Lakes Vanilla Bout
Looking forward to meeting some great beer people, and sharing some great beer you've probably never had!

    I salute you!

This is thing - DLD isn't about sharing whalz, and while there's definitely that, it's also just bringing whatever you have access to that's local that you think is worthwhile, and want to share. That's it, in a nutshell.

Whereabout, or should I say, where-a-boot in Canada are you from? Last I checked, North Dakota isn't in Canada....

I'm half Canadian - my father was born in the Hamilton Bay / St. Catherine's area, before they migrated south when he was a wee lad. I've got that going for me, which is nice.

You think there's going to be a shortage of variants on tap? They couldn't make enough bottles so that has me thinking the taps may be slim.

I haven't. I've only had a couple beers that were aged in Scotch, and can't say I was a fan. That being said those weren't "World-Class" examples of the style, but they definitely turned me off.

I wouldn't hesitate to try a Scotch DL on tap, I just don't want to risk my variant on something that I have a hunch I won't like.

Mostra coffee just posted something on instagram about a three floyds collaboration. I will go ahead and assume that this means there is a BA coffee Darklord this year.

If that were true, I would expect a link....I highly doubt FFF would sacrifice their current coffee supplier for DL to one in California. They support local and Dark Matter is the best coffee thing to happen to craft beer.

Dark Matter is the way. I can't think of another brand I'm more loyal to, beer included.

I highly doubt they are using it in DL unless they have 4 coffee roasters lined up so everyone gets a 4 pack of DL where each bottle contains a different coffee.

It's probably just more coffee aged in Dark Lord barrels, not the other way around.

My guess is that the Monsta thing is completely unrelated to DLD.

If there is a coffee variant, it will be Dark Matter. They aren't going to used Dark Matter for the base DL, and the use a different brand of coffee to add to a barrel aged version.
