Thank you for clarifying this on here. I've heard more than a few people claim DM is an NE style pale, and I've never seen it advertised as such, nor do I think it hits the requirements. Its just a damn fine pale ale and looking forward to trying Really Dank Meme someday.

Triptych advertises it as an "Eastcoast Pale Ale" which is certainly implying a connection to the NE style IPAs. Whether or not it fits the bill as a NE style beer can be debated - but the marketing is there to imply a connection.

Not sure how deep into semantics I want to get... Dank Meme utilizes the same chloride heavy water profile that most of the east coast breweries who are making these sorts of beer use, the same sort of flaked grain/adjunct profile, a proprietary yeast similar to Conan/London Ale 3/etc, and an appropriate dry hopping regimen with similar dosing rates and rousing/recirculation procedures.

When you drink it next to IPAs from Trillium, Tired Hands, Treehouse, etc., it fits in, but it is missing the level of alcohol, hop character and "juicyness" that they have... and well it should, it is a pale ale. Drink it next to a non-double-dry-hopped Fort Point and it is closer.

Maybe Eastcoast Inspired Pale ale is more appropriate, but it is all really semantics. Drink it if you like it, but if you don't, tons of other beers out there instead! Great time to be a craft beer drinker.

FWIW, I had 3 cans of Trillium last weekend (Vicinity, Fort Point, and Mosiac DH Fort Point) and the regular Fort Point was by far my favorite. This sounds like it would be right up my alley. I'll definitely have my brother bring some up to the city, thanks!

I'm so over Hop Butcher. They are done getting my money. While I enjoyed Telehopic much more than the other - I wouldn't pay the price again in the future.

Yea, I just picked up a batch of the new Stratus yesterday, and agree with the consensus here, it's great. Ended up going back to the store to grab another four pack.

Links Taproom has 5 Rabbit's Crimenes De Pasion on tap. It's listed as a NEIPA with passion fruit.

I have not had it, but will probably swing by since I'll likely never get to 5 Rabbit.

I'd love some more detail. What did they improve about it/What was lacking before?

the taste, and look are close to on par with the ne ipa juicy want people are looking for here. Compared to the first batch they canned it is far and away non comparable. Worth a grab if you can find it

Initially I liked Cumulus more, but I found that the more they "dialed it in," the softer and more...boring to me it got. I'm curious about Stratus, because it was initially slightly more bitter than I wanted, but very tasty. If there's still a little bitterness there, it might be worth it to me to pick this up.

There definitely is. If you're looking for the softer mouth feel, juicy taste, with a little bite on the end, this batch is absolutely for you.

Just curious, how would it compare to the Noon Whistle Gummies?

Definitely still has some of the bitterness, but it's been dialed back a bit. Still not as juicy/soft as the HFs & Trilliums of the world, but it's a nice beer that is on par with Cumulus now. Cumulus was my #1 of the Hailstorm NEIPA beers, but this batch of Stratus is right up there.

None of them have the depth that I'm ultimately looking for, but they're solid beers that I'm happy to be able to easily grab at the store.
