This "running out of the beer you purchased" thing is a little shocking. Is it really something that happens regularly? This is my first year in the RS and my buddy and we love it. But we've been fortunate enough to have our trustee head to the the fulfillment center for us once every month, except this one because he's traveling and won't get there, so we'll have two+ months worth of stuff ready when trustee does finally go. Was fortunate to snag a couple limited things, are they going to be gone? I understand the story above is a little extreme since the guy waited for a while, but its still no more shitty. How often does this happen?

I don't think this is common at all. Perhaps when a bad bottle is determined and those that haven't picked up said bad bottle they try to swap it, or else try to work out a refund.

It personally happened to me once last year when I went to pickup my Rum BT. That was oversold and I was offered (when I picked up) either a Port or a Madeira BT as replacement.

So I would say these issues are outliers...still issues, but I wouldn't be concerned.

Edit: Fixed timing, as it happened when I bought the rum BT in 2015 and went to pick up in 2016

I was bummed when I went to pick up 2015 Oude Tart only to find out they pulled it for quality reasons. Once there was no Tart of Darkness for pickup, it was oversold so I didn't get any. I got the same RUM BT, Port BT story that SDReaper experienced as well. They did right by me though.

So which did you choose? Madeira or Port?

I went port since I already had a maderia at home and never got the port due to me being on RS at the time they were released

It happened to me twice, and that was back when I lived in California. I've had zero issues picking up since I moved and I'm only able to pick up once every 6 months or so.

I'm one of the guilty members that waited til the last day to pick up a bunch of bottles. At least 3 of my bottles were replaced with Black Tuesday and at least one of my orders was refunded. I was excited when i placed the orders but zero fuxx given once I picked them up. Maybe I'm getting too old for this shit #gettoffmylawn

A little sarcasm there buddy. Your comment was irrelevant and didn't make any sense.

Regularly? No, Definitely not. I've been a trustee for a handful of guys over the last two years. It does happen, but not very often. I agree with sdreaper's comments.

I got that. And my comment made plenty of sense.

Some people would rather pay the shipping fee instead spending their time sitting in LA traffic to go pick up their stuff.

    Pretty simple.

Unfortunately, I think it is. I posted about my pickup experience here: https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...rs-hs-allocations.478247/page-56#post-5374722

I am very hopeful that inventory management will be a priority in 2017. I also experienced them not notifying me of all the out of stock beers. They did tell me about 2 or 3, but not all. Instead, they tried to slip in BT or older vintages of the out of stock item without notice.

I get that , but the tasting room is right door. I pickup bottles when I'm interested in going to their tasting room or doing something else in that area. So I'm not wasting my time.

Definitely if he has no interest in going to the tasting room, then it might be a waste of his time driving out there for them.

    Anyways, See you around !

You find it a valuable use of your time and that is totally fine. It's all good.
