Agreed that Cultivator was good. But, if you haven't had this you need to try it. Simcoe up front with mild mango at the end. Not fruity at all (at least not to me).

I've drank a decent amount of First Cut, it's good I got nothing against it but would have much rather been drinking cultivator.

I couldn't agree with this more. I'll miss Cultivator for sure. I can buy IPAs from any brewery (especially living around here) but finding a helles or a bock (especially a helles bock) made by an American brewery that was quality is not easy.

I agree that this was a great beer. But, there's always Genesee Bock Beer.

The American brewery doing it the best right now is Von Trapp and I don't even think it's a contest. Again, though, who's making a helles bock to the quality of Cultivator? I know IPAs are where all the cool kids sit, I get it, I'm guilty of it a lot too, but why take a style like this off the shelves? Especially at that price?

I'm disappointed too that Cultivator is gone, I did like that beer. Welp, I guess it's back to drinking more pilsners for spring/summer.

You live in a great state for that. I love every pils from Pennsylvania especially Stoudt's. As a kolsch fan too, you can't beat Lancaster's. Lawnmower beer at its best.

Has anybody had this year's Stoudts Maibock yet? They won gold for this beer at last year's World Beer Cup.

    Cheers!

Add me to the list waiting for regular Flying Mouflan to come back. I still have a couple of bottles in the cellar from the 2011 batch. It's good aged, but I thought it was phenominal when it was really fresh. Great under 6 months, then meh from 6 months to 2 years when the hops were fading, then great again at 3 years old when the malt flavors really developed.

I bought a case of cans of Nugget Nectar and enjoyed it was usual. Wish it was a year-round beer - it's got the perfect balance of kilned malt flavor, bitterness, and fragrant hop aroma.

I bought two batches of Nugget Nectar this year.

My first batch was a 12 pack of bottles and I really enjoyed those beers!!

The second purchase was a 6-pack of cans and I found that batch to be disappointing.

In years past there was lots of spirited discussion about how the quality of Nugget Nectar varied from batch to batch. This batch quality variation occurred for me this year.

    Cheers!

Interestingly, I found the cans of NN to be far superior to the bottles.

I had a single bottle of Nugget Nectar while at a restaurant (poured into a glass), about 2 weeks after it was released by Troegs. I felt that it wasn't as aromatic as the case of cans I was drinking at home. But I wouldn't be willing to make a blanket statement based on that small sample size.

    Anyone do blind side-by-side?

I do not think it has anything to do with the packaging per se - it is just a brewing batch to batch situation.

It seems that the batch, which was canned, that you purchased was a 'good' batch. I was not so fortunate with my canned batch. But the batch I purchased which was bottle was very tasty.

So, I had 12 'good' bottles that I drank and 6 'not so good' cans. Overall, I was a 'winner' this year.

    What will next year bring!?!:astonished:

    Cheers!

Add me to the more Mouflan please list. Preferably in a smaller format this time around. Easily my favorite from Troegs and I believe the only beer in a large format bottle that I bought multiples of.

It's one of the few beers that I've bought a 12 bottle case of large format (22oz or 750ml) bottles.

Yep, I bought at least 3 cases back when they bottled this beauty...plus 3 cases of scratch #4, probably the greatest bargain in beer history. $36 a case I think? Anyone remember for sure?

Victory St B is on tap. I love this beer, not sure if they're bottling this year, but plan on swinging by later this week to try and grab a growler.

Speaking of the scratch version of Mouflan, anyone remember the party at the old location with the first five beers ever on tap out of the side of a trailer? The trailer part is fuzzy, but whatever. That was a heck of a time.
