I tend to think it's less collecting and moreso trading and re-selling.

 

When you're young, not much matters. When you find something that you care about, then that's all you got. When you go to sleep at night you dream of Monkish. When you wake up it's the same thing. It's there in your face. You can't escape it. Sometimes when you're young the only place to go is inside. That's just it - Monkish is what I love. Take that away from me and I really got nothing.

 

it's at least a nice change of pace from the "i bet the hazebros are already headed to FedEx to trade for Tree House" jokes

i like variety

 

Maybe we add a disclaimer to the first post next month stating that the following subjects are well worn comedic material, and will be frowned upon, unless one comes up with an especially 'smart' take: parking lot verts, Dot, FedEx Muling, babies in the brewhouse, glassware culture, why people wait in line, hardware stores, and not allowing avocado on tacos.

Feel free to add to the list everyone.

Kinda on topic... My first time to Monkish today, and even though I don't care for sours, I decided to wait in the line at 11am and got bottles by 12:25. Was able to trade two of the bottles for centaur gardens and down down right off the bat, which made it totally worth it!

Wow! Did you drink any Monkish or was this purely like a legend of Zelda quest where you're trading up toward the Biggoron Sword (Bottle Logic TIPA, unreleased)

 

I was admittedly in a bit of a quest lol. As an IPA guy I have been hearing about Monkish for a few years and was excited to try it out. I had the two DIPAs and the pale ale, and while they were good, they weren't great. I'll be looking forward to my summer LA trip to try some more!

 

Honestly the two haze DIPAs they had last week were poor showings compared to most of the stuff I've had from Monkish. I tried to introduce a couple friends to the style w/these and I knew they would flop. And they did. Not bad, per se, just not living up to the hype and all that.

 

Funk Juggling #3 was on Funking Point though. I made a second trip to pick up 2 more bottles; one exploded in my van (improper storage = my fault) and I saved the remnants of the broken one in an empty gatorade bottle I had rolling around in the van. Let it re-ferment a little in the fridge for a day or two and managed to save 2/3 of a terrible situation. Lesson learned! I need a stupid $50 growler bag.

 

I am having a hard time distiguishing between the serious and the comedic post in this thread any longer

 

Or just ask the brewery (if available) for a FREE growler box.

 

A stroller always works best though.
