Oh, I'm not debating that there's demand. I just don't think there's nearly the demand as there would be for a BA stout. I genuinely don't buy it when people say sours are the "next IPA" (really, NE IPAs are the next IPA, in a way).

We disagree on Fluorescent, but I'm not surprised. The stuff I like from Half Acre isn't necessarily in a style that I expect everyone to love (kind of like some of the newer HB stuff that's really polarizing).

The Sisters are good beers, but I'm not interested in drinking the same beers over and over again.

They do. I actually am in the minority in that I dont think Una Anee sours are anything to write home about. They are fine but kinda hit or miss for me.

Out of curiosity have you had a chance to try some of Whiner's sours and one-offs?

I agree they can be hit or miss, but their hits are outstanding IMHO.

Hoping the same from HA too. Although not technically "Chicago" Transient's sour program is better than Une Annee & Off Color to me. I know they are riding the NE IPA hype train, but to me their funk/sour program is where they truly shine. If/when they get their distro to IL set up they will be setting the pace IMO. Before Chris opened the brewery in MI & was just doing the IL membership society many of us believed he was the future of Chicago wild beer. Check out these current to go options, not including his hoppy can options:

FOEDER #2 - Sour wheat saison aged in oak
FOEDER #2 W/ DE CHANUAC GRAPES - Sour wheat saison aged in oak with local red wine grapes
DRY HOPPED SALARIUM - gose dry hopped with lemondrop hops
    INDOORSMAN - brett pale ale
FOEDER #2 W/ BLACKBERRY - American wild ale aged with blackberries
ELECTRIC BLUEGALOO - American wild ale blended with blueberry mead from four fathers meadery
BRO-CEAN SPRAY - A blend of de chanauc foeder #2 and cranberry maigre
DOUBLE BARREL OBELUS w/ BLUEBERRY - Oak aged saison aged with local Rambo Blueberries

You're right, I forgot about Transient. I've had a number of their offerings and while I haven't loved every one of them, they're all well done and some are outstanding.

But since they are 90 minutes from me, I was really getting at something a little more local with a tasting room. I was down in Tampa for Huna Day and Arkane Aleworks was fantastic. I think they had like 10 different funky beers on tap. I'd love a place like that in or closer to the city.

The only beer I've had by them is Le Tub and I was incredibly underwhelmed. If you're saying there's other better options, I'll definitely seek them out and give them a shot.

I've had their canned offerings and have felt pretty meh - but I know they've recently started releasing some one-off bottled sours that I have not had, but have heard good things about.

He won 5 NBA championships, made the NBA Hall of Fame, got rich after his basketball career, became a minority owner in the Dodgers and is a NBA general manager? Sounds like I'm getting the full allotment of 6!

Visited the tap room with my wife last weekend for the first time. We were spoiled by getting to try 7 different IPAs that were on tap (that just doesn't happen at many or at any breweries in Michigan near us). All of them were great and unique in their own way. Much respect to Half Acre for knowing what they do well and sticking with it. We will visit again in the future! Cheers.

That's pretty funny. By buddy and I went the prior weekend, and thought the exact opposite.

We just kept saying "Everythimg is an IPA, they're all good, but I wish they had some stouts/lagers/etc. They make a lot of seasonal beers, but nothing was on draft outside of IPAs and a tripel.
