I suppose I should have said, "there's a pretty vague description, which doesn't describe anything really useful."

Prop on tap at Whole Foods lakeview ... just wandered in after a run to this pleasant surprise ... some people work off their drinking ... I prefer to drink off my workouts

Yeah - it is all over West and North 'burbs too for $9.99 each. I picked up some bottles in MN last week for $6.99 each and it is just okay - not as good as Paradise and I didn't think Paradise was worth the cost, but maybe people that love pecans will love it.
Go get Rye Barrel Chocolate Porter for <$10... way better beer and great value.

SIDE NOTE: How did we get here thinking that $7-$12/12oz bottle for an "ok" or "decent" stout is acceptable? (typing this to drive the point home to myself since I am very guilty on this point) Year-round offerings from Avery and Prairie have totally sucked us in on this. Yes, Tweak and Uncle Jacob's are great, but are they that much better than the limited bombers from Clown Shoes like Gargoyle Love Song, Crasher In The Rye, etc... I would pay $10/bottle for 1-2 bottles Pirate Noir/BOMB and Apple Brandy Noir, but those are special. Of course, many of us don't think KBS is worth the $6-$7/bottle but we paid it anyway too.
Perhaps this is a good discussion to have while drinking a few stouts...

I didn't enjoy Pe-Kan much at all. Way thinner than their stouts usually are and too sweet for that thin of a body.

I would start bidding, but I don't have 5 friends. :slight_frown: (okay, I do, but getting them all to agree to do something fun is difficult)

I will be buying a ticket shortly!

Pretty tired of getting burned on these beers. They might have my dollar now, but once bitten twice shy.

Have you been before? Curious as to the size of the event and you will be stuck in line the whole event to get anything worth while from the specialty pours

I missed it last year due to a scheduling conflict. It also wasn't on my radar as much because the announced specialty beers weren't as sexy (though if I remember right, they had Prop 14, Templeton Rye, Raspberry BCBS, Nitro BCBS, and another cool tap or two).

It sounded fun, though obviously there are lines.

I went to the GI event a couple years back (when it was called Sunday Funday). It's a great time, although the line for the "good stuff" unsurprisingly sucks.

Went last year. It was a great time (and nice weather was an important part of that). The tickets included with entry could be used on the timed specialty pours (about 8oz) or a full pour of their core stuff. Lines for that weren't too bad. But every 40-50 minutes some GI employee wheeled out this barrel cart for a super special pour. Missed out on Cherry Rye (I think) trying to figure out what was going on but then got to try Vanilla Rye and Cuvee of Darkness. Those did not require a ticket. I'll try to post some pics soon if I can figure out this photo bucket stuff or whatever. The lineup looks stout heavy this year tho, so we got that goin for us, which is nice.

Maybe it's too soon, but it might be worth mentioning the new and electric Clybourn pub opening up. Because I work literally right above it, all of us TJ's guys loved dropping in. I know it's sort of been said but I hope that it keeps its late 80's swanky vibe.

Do you have some info on when it's opening? I thought I heard something about it being delayed.

No, no words. One person I work with at Trader Joes used to be a server there but betweeen GI saying very little and most of the people who worked in severing/non-brewing postions not being beer people theres very little info coming from small places that serve GI beer.

Wish I had more, but like anything Goose makes, there's a vauge date and late deadlines. With my short experience with Cooper's Project more than likely it will be a very late summer opening. I saw them removing everything from the fermentation tanks to all the dishes and kitchen recipes (saw it sitting in a pile in the back of the pub). Educated guess is they are regutting and trying to make a facsimile of Fulton.

This of course is my postulation. Sorry for not knowing more than that.

Picked up a single of Rye Hipster yesterday despite not liking the normal version (per suggestions in this thread) and definitely liked it better than the normal version. I have to think there's something different here than just the type of barrels because it was a substantially different beer. That said, probably one I buy once, didn't love it and it was like $8 for a 12oz bottle.

I had one last night, too. Didn't love it. It was fine. Better than the regular definitely.
