Funny to think that a DDH DIPA will probably be the most likely to last a while on Saturday. My how times (or releases) have changed..Oats seems to be more the rage these days.

    over the oats and lactose.

i will say greenscapes was a nice balance. daydream in green was too milkshake-y for me.

Agreed. Daydream had so much oat flavor that it really overpowered the hops for me. Greenscapes had enough to smooth out those typical OH "rough edges," but not enough to completely destroy the 'crisp' quality of the mouthfeel. Hoping for more restrained uses of lactose and oats moving forward.

i think its ok if you pair it with fruits and other flavors a la tired hands. on its own the oats just neutered the hops. i think the combo of dmd might help and they mentioned only a hint of lactose from the daydream beer so thats promising.

When I stopped by on Sunday around 3 they were out of Saloon Doors cans but they had a couple cases behind the bar today at opening if anyone is interested.

Are we assuming all 4 beers this Sat will be a single batch, and early sell out?

As alluded to earlier, DDH Simcoe may last until after the line is gone. As many others who abhor the lines, I'll just pop over late afternoon for some growler fills!

To me it seems kinda like the phenomenon of promoting double dry hopping... I think most if not all of these pale colored hazy IPA's have had oats in them all along, and most have also seen two dry hoppings all along, but now its more marketing because labeling something as Double Dry Hopped sells, and now it seems so does saying it has oats in it....

I think the demand/hype has more to do with the newness of the beer more than anything else. In this case, DDH Simcoe has been released at least 2X in the past. We saw early sellouts & big hype with regular IPA's in the Broc/Chedd/Cabbage release as well.

Spot on. The whole DDH thing is marketing and we all eat it up. Slap a new pretty label on a can and label it DDH, and everyone is lining up. I'm guilty of it too. I agree that people have been using oats to get mouthfeel/haze in these beers forever but it's just the next aspect they can market to us.

I enjoy the lactose and oat'ed IPA's. I think it's cynical to suggest putting DDH on a beer is for marketing only; I've found it a helpful indicator of what a beer's hop profile will be like, how that hope profile will develop, both of which, whether buying a four pack, a growler, or 16oz pour, is valuable information.

That said, I'm pretty confident the team at OH aren't going to stop making killer beers without these added ingredients. Exhibit A: the "west coast style" Other Half IPA keeps coming back every now and then, even if it does tend to linger on their shelf a little longer.

Even if only Simcoe lasts until the afternoon, that is a huge win for the afternooners. Personally I am skipping as I have lots of Carton, Kane and City Slickers left but I remember DDH DMD and DDH FS a few releases back, and I may have preferred DDH FS. Damned good IPA, one of the best Simcoe representations I've ever had.

You're right. I brought that release to a party with several friends who are into craft beer but not to the level of standing in line for OH releases. They just drank the beers without any expectations of what should be better and all thought DDH FS was the best.

Place by me just put up Imaginary Greescapes on tap. Picked up a 32oz growler. Really damn good. Hoping that their other new batches get taped here soon too.

Yeah DDH FS is one of the best OH beer's I've had so far. I'd like to try these new ones but I will be fine if I only walk away with simcoe

someone posted on FB they might be lowering the limits for DDH cabbage. Apparently they had canning issues. Can anyone confirm?
