Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

It was almost a rhetorical question, but fuck it. Place sounds dope.

 

My friend said the food is the typical "small plate scam". Not throwing shade, but I spit beer out of my mouth when he said that.

Anyhoo, yeah, Squeezit is legit.

Did I read earlier that they have a new brewer?

 

And much more conveniently located from the Brown Line than any other brewery.

 

Yeah, Corridor's new head brewer was previously the assistant brewer at Forbidden Root.

I did Azzacca Special Sauce followed by the 4/20 bottled Hubbard's Cave last night. SS was good but not great on draft on Saturday but the bottled version was even below that. It was drinkable but I'm not exactly pumped to open my other bottle. The Hubbard's Cave captured the NE characteristics far better and was the clear winner between the two.

 

I was reluctant to buy another bottle of the Hubbard's Cave. I really enjoyed the first few sips, but I can second the carb problems other people had. There was no head at all when I poured it into the glass - absolutely none. After half a glass, it was like drinking really hoppy orange juice and I ended up drain pouring the rest

 

Had Corridor last night..it was second to Tree House.. def a must try for all..

 

Dang that's a bummer. I really loved it, didn't have carb issues with the two bottles I had. It is probably my favorite NE style beer from this area thus far.

 

Same here, I've only had carb issues with them once and it was back last Spring

 

I had Squeezit over the weekend along with the new hubbards, 160 swiftly, and mr nice gummy. I have a brother in Boston who regularly sends me actual NE IPAs, and corridor's was the closest to it out of these. I also thought it was by far the best beer of the 4. I drank another crowler this week and it held up fine for the 5 days in my fridge. FWIW, i drain poured the 2nd half of 160 swiftly, it tasted like a beer that you crack and put back in your fridge to keep cold then forget about til 2 days later. I'm typically a Mikerphone fan, but I thought that one totally missed the mark.

 

You guys have talked me into finally giving Corridor a try. I always avoided it because it was started by the owner of DryHop (which I'm not a fan of), even though I do like that they focus on farmhouse styles. I just needed to hear some confirmation.

Has anyone tried son of juice cans? How much was 4 pack? Hazy? Was it tasty? Bueller?

 

I'm in your boat. I hate Dry Hop. I'd draw a parallel with this to RAM Schaumburg. You couldn't pay me to drink at RAM, but then they got a talented brewer who made it worth while (StB). This new guy is putting Corridor on the map...

 

Wow. I am not touching this statement. BUT, its better than any NEIPA style Ive had from Noon Whistle, Hailstorm or Mikerphone. Had on draft an hour or so ago.
