I'm showing up at 7am regardless for my group A. Don't shed a tear for us. Shed a tear for the poor souls in C,D,E who will be paranoid the whole time and hanging around the line up area for bottles and ruining their own experience.

"Hey, are you line for bottles?"
    "Yeah."
    "Cool, I'm Group B."
"This isn't the Group B line."
"Oh, which group line are you in?"
    "E."
"E? You're Group E? Why are you in line so soon?"
    "No, I'm Group A."
"Oh, you can go in with Group Bs then."
"I know but I'm waiting for Group E."
"Why Group E? You can go in now, get your bottles and enjoy the rest of the fest."
    "I want a Handjee."
"You can only get a Handjee in E?"
"No, they are allocated by group. My buddy got here at 9pm last night. He's a Group A too but I couldn't come that early. He got a Handjee in Group A. He texted me that the Handjee bottle count is 500. When I got in, I counted the people in the group B, C and D lines and there are already at least a 100 in each so I'm here in Group E."
"So you're going to spend the next 6 hours in line?"
    "Yeah. I want a Handjee."
"Ok, well hope you enjoy the Handjee."
"Well, I probably won't even drink it. Might flip it or resell it."
    "Oh..."

No offense intended, but you know an awful lot of people were only buying group A for the vanilla for trade or resale. Those were the poor souls I mentioned.

As for me I won't be hanging around the pick up line all day. I'd be happy with ANY of the varients or 2 vintage DL!

    Cheers and see you there!

I will not be getting there early enough to be in the front.

Eh group A at least allows us to get our variants and enjoy the event. The later groups will have to get in line as soon as they get in and they can't leave if they want a good variant. I know some group D guys that are already planning on lining up as soon as they get in. With them now saying that the back end get vintage dates, it will be a mad dash to not be last. So on the bright side, we actually get to enjoy the event, and there shouldn't be much for lines elsewhere. The big downside is that taps won't kick because everyone will be in line...

Is this your first time? You need to learn why people go to DLD, it's not the beer anymore. I got E and I don't care. Enough people I know will get the "rare" beers and they will appear at shares.

As for your "A" ticket...I'll clap slowly and say good for you.

Sh*t just got real. I've typed and deleted several potential posts. I have so many mixed feelings about the recent update. I won't complain, being group A, about not being almost guaranteed the top variant. I like the fact that everyone attending has a shot at a top notch variant. I am however worried about the logistical aspect of everything now. Lines to get in will most likely be worse. The first two groups at a minimum will be lining up a lot earlier (yes I know, not everyone...the majority will). This being said I foresee the wait to get in being the longest yet.
Logistically speaking group A should benefit once in. While tons of people jockey for early spots in line for the mid groups group A should see better tap, food, and merch lines.
All of this is my humble theory based on previous years and a lot of thought. Of course we won't know until then but I'm curious as to your opinions.

I feel like this change helps group B and C the most. Still getting there early enough to get in line and having time to enjoy the festival afterwards without being so drunk and tired from getting in line at 4am.

I think you nailed in. In order for the later groups to get a good variant, they will have to pretty much the entire day in the variant line. Granted, they get to share, but at the cost of the tap lines, music, glassware, and food.

Yup being B myself I was planning on getting there decently early like at 8 so that I'd be early in the variant line. This really doesn't change my plans for the day at all.

If this had been the old school draft where the early rounds were on a Saturday, I probably would have blacked out by now. Can't do that on a Thursday.

I know people are reading into the FAQ that they're going to have separate queues setup for groups A-E at gates open. But I'm pretty sure that's not how it's gonna be. In the past they'll start queuing up the next group in a different line.(A in one, B in another designated spot with signage, etc.) but they won't setup the queue for the next line until the previous line starts going through the bottle pickup process. I have no reason to believe it will be any different. You won't need to wait in line all day if you're in a later group and want a good Variant. There's no way they're just going to have 5 different lines snaking around the property.

I know for certain that Grindhouse, a NW Indiana coffee shop with a food truck, is going to be there in the morning serving breakfast sandwiches from their truck. They stop serving at 12:00 pm, I believe I was told. There will be trucks!

I could see them lining A and B up right at the start but not setting a line up for C until A is finished and so on and so forth. That way nobody will ever wait longer than 2 hours max.
