Using numbers for the same variant styles last year and adding in the highest yield variants for a total of 7 variants, somewhere around 300-400 people per group not getting a variant if 8,000 attend?

Probably the best lineup for Dark Lord Day yet. Amon Amarth is such a good fit. All this talk about the variant fiasco and I just want to drink what's on tap and hang in the tent all day

I honestly don't see how anyone can think that the random, pre-filled bag isn't the best option.

However, I also don't see what's so bad about waiting in the allotment line all day since you can share there, and the sharing is one of the biggest points of the event.

I'm kind of torn, but I'm leaning toward hoping Floyds does a random surprise posting of the lines' beginnings 30-60 minutes prior to their respective allotment times.

And , it screwed people that believed the first come first served message when tickets were sold and decided not to buy a ticket. I believe you sir were one of those.

I get that they want to spread the variants out and be fair for each group but as mentioned before what did best available during ticket purchase mean then? I like the idea of random bag and you just get the variant that is in there. Would be nice to possibly have a 3 tiered ticket system so there are option for those who want to attend.

    A) festival entry only for those who don't care for any DL allocation
    B) entry + reg DL but no variant for those who don't wanna pay for a variant they may not want
    C) entry + reg DL + variant, you get a random bag with a variant

And you get your allocation as you leave the festival instead of a pick up line, no more lugging around your allocation all day or making sure someone doesn't steal it either. Can just enjoy the festival and get your beer when you leave.

Oh well it is what it is and being in group E, I'll line up the same time and enjoy the festival with my beer buddies and strangers. T-minus 15 days!

Not going to lie, I purchased AT&T Fiber internet so I could purchase Group A DLD tickets and Adidas Yeezy Boost 350's. What a waste (ultra HD **** is pretty cool).

I am in Group A and I really don't care about a variant this year but I do feel bad for all of those people who got Group A for the first time. I was fortunate enough to get FVM and MHjee last year so I would actually be okay with someone else being able to try those variants. I am on the Jaks tap bus so I will most likely be there in time to snag a decent variant (hoping for BADL) and get wasted off world class beer with my dad, uncle, and college friend. Cheers dickheads.

PS: High on Fire is fucking awesome..

I'm going to assume they will have the variants organized in groups.....so if you have group A and go in front of group B they will still pull your variant from the Group A "pile".......of course this would be a logical way to handle it....and we all know DLD isn't always logical.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: eliminate the groups, make the variants random but pre-assign them (I heard they have computers for this) where you don't find out until they scan your barcode when you get your bottles. You can pickup your bottles whenever you want throughout the day. No lines. And no people freaking out at the north gate when it takes them 4 hours to get in and it eats into their group A pickup times.

Thought this was interesting..."Pink peppercorns are not a true peppercorns (genus Piper), but are the ripe berries of the Brazilian pepper tree. Since they are the same shape and size as true peppercorns, they are marketed under the name "pink peppercorn." They are used as a spice and have a lighter pepper-like taste."

Last year I bought a ticket for less and had to give up my variant, so I was definitely looking forward to getting a variant in Group A. Bit disappointed in that regard, but I can't argue a system where everyone has a chance makes sense. I kind of like the idea of a random system, or just do a scratch off like in the past and it tells you what you get.

I'm with some of you, one bottle of beer I'm not going to let affect the course of my day, it is what it is, I'm happy to try whatever variant I'm given even if its the least desirable one.

Won't find me up at the crack of dawn waiting for an FVM or Handjee, so whatever variant an arrival time of 715-730AM gets me is fine. As much as I want those highly sought after variants, I'll be trashed by the time my friends in later groups arrive if I'm standing in line at 5-6AM, and likely never find them.

One of my major gripes about Dark Lord Days was the date. Too early for an outside event and finally, FFF has addressed that issue but then they picked Mothers Day Weekend as the later Date.... Why?

When you purchase a ticket to an event, usually everything is spelled out as to what you are purchasing and all the details are finalized... Making changes on the fly is not good for business and shows how disorganized FFF is. I like that there are allotments for each group, but first come first served for each group is going to lead to Chaos. People will be told not to line up until a certain time and guess what people will do.... line up regardless.

If FFF wanted people to enjoy their event, they should have picked date not on a holiday weekend, they should have announced all plans prior to the purchase, and have organized the variant selection process.

Variant pickup should have been blind bagged and ordered. Meaning they should pull one from each style in order so when I pickup my bag with my guest or a group of my friends, each one of us gets a different bottle and probably a chance to try as many variants as possible and enjoy the event without any worry about first come first served and waiting in lines. People could spend more time enjoying the event and less time worrying about what variant may or may not be available at there place in line which is a horrible experience.

The more people have to wait in line, the less food is sold, the less beer from the taps is consumed, and less of the event is actually enjoyed. People in line consume every other beer that is not from FFF, they eat whatever food they pack for lines, and probably complain four hours in line about how ridiculous the event was organized, so sounds like the worst plan ever for a beer event.

I've cooked with them, I wasn't about to say anything but these might balance out the cinnamon. Pink Peppercorns also have a slight lemon/citrus taste, which probably won't come through.

Not going to lie, this one intrigues me, the cinnamon would be my concern, I do like it in beers but it also can completely overpower the taste.

Lol, remember all those rumors about the brewpub burning down? Well this is the year it happens!

What could be more metal than an epic beerfest riot in sleepy Munster, Indiana. Long haired axemen smashing guitars over drunk neckbeard's heads? Brewers hurling kegs Donkey Kong style at incomprehensible, whining metal heads? FFF is doing their part to have the biggest shit show this side of Comisky's Disco Demolition Derby.
