Carton Brewing (April 2017)

Indeed. This is usually how I view the releases. Just wasn't sure if this was a bit more limited because it's barrel aged. I imagine that's why the 2 4-pack limit...so that it does last the weekend. Anyway, can't wait to try it and fingers crossed that one of my friends can hook me up this weekend as I'll be out of town

 

I'd be willing to bet it hangs on til at least Saturday. Never been to Carton on a weekday where there was a line in any way.

 

My thought was it will disappear quicker than a few of their recent cans, just based on the two 4 pack limit. That generally means a smaller quantity made. Can't imagine they had a ton of barrels/room to age this for a year.

 

Carton is really awesome about making sure beers last. Better than any other brewery I've ever been to. I love the 2-4pk limit if they didn't yield as much as usual. The more people that get some the better. I'd be shocked if this didn't make it til the weekend

 

it'll be fine, don't stress, some of your friends already have some, when we do run out it'll be spread around, you'll try it, you'll tell me what you thought, we will all be happy and it'll be on to the next one

sadly i won't. it is my favorite fest. and before anyone attacks remember that for me its one i can't be part of, entirely populated by people i like, making beers i love. if i was free i would totally claim i was pouring for @Jesse_Ferguson and never actually do that

There is definitely a good amount left but it was flying out the door yesterday...as it should!! Really enjoyed this one!

 

Who are these friends you speak of and what other beers have they been withholding from me in the past

 

Sundae is really nice. The cognac, cherry and (less so) the walnut came out ahead of the normal Cosmonaut flavors, for me, by and large. I'm not a huge 'barrrel presence' guy in my BA beers, preferring just a touch a la Shipwreck, but here it helped cut the sweetness. One of the best dessert beers I've had, that doesn't stray *too* far from being a beer still.

 

Wish I could get over there but it is not in the cards. Luckily it looks like carton has expanded distribution to some new places they had Unjunct, IDIPA and Hoppun at buy rite milltown for first time ever. And IDIPA and Hoppun are regularly available (though neither of those two do it for me). I was even able to get two four packs of unjunct at once (and probably could have bought more).
Would have loved to have seen carton at Wine World East Brunswick instead of Buy Rite though. Don't particularly care for buy rite. They seem way overstocked. I've gotten burned on old beer there plus tons kept warm (though the Carton was refrigerated).

 

Anyone know if this hung on for today? I'd love to get here around mid afternoon and grab some.

 

I was there last night at 6PM and counted 30 cases, so I'd be surprised if there was some mad rush that emptied them between 6 and the closing at 8PM.

 

Sundae is my favorite Carton beer, and possibly my favorite NJ beer. It is that good. Really took Cosmonaut to the next level with the Cognac/Walnut/Cherries.

 

Looks like Sundae might not make it through the day according to their Facebook.

 

It appears there isn't much left. I can't get there until mid afternoon. Bummer.

 

It's not listed on their latest FB post for cans. Looks like it's still on tap for flights though

 

Just picked up 2 fours. There is some, but supply is dwindling. Also, it's delicious.
