It is a tradition for Flossmoor Station to hold a pre-Dark Lord day event and they usually release a barrel aged beer as part of it. Resurrecting Wooden Hell, their most legendary whale, is a fairly big deal. It was first on tap the day before Dark Lord Day back in 07.

Back in the day, Flossmoor Station was the only other brewery to visit relatively close to Three Floyds, so many people made it a part of their weekend.

I'm making a real effort to get sours and IPAs this year to cut through everyone's stouts.

It's an adult portion. On the Tuesday after DLD last year, I brought 2 bombers to work, which we split like 8 ways. Everyone was real wired.

It's also extremely potent on the palate. It was decisive, even among hardcore coffee drinkers. To me, it was tannic with a lot of berry notes - with some medicinal notes not unlike islay scotch. To my boss, it was 'kerosene'.

Because it would have remained flooded while you attended DLD?

Whoa...seems like they updated the Top list drastically. I thought I had around 100 last I checked now I have almost 150...and the top 10-20 looks a lot different. Maybe a bunch of one-off barrel treatments dropped off/retired? Or did they change the calculation method?

Oops, looks like they did update it: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/updates-top-rated-beers.507842/

Group C. Not trying to get there super early this year. Maybe 10-11. I'll be wearing a Dragon Abortion shirt with my BA user name on the back.

I don't like it! There's so many great beers out there and now it looks like the entire thing is based on quantity instead of quality.

I thought the update was a little much, as well, but it doesn't really matter I guess.

Just out of curiosity, what did the previous Top 10 look like?

I think I agree at this point. The Ohio Top beers are now dominated by over 40 showings from Great Lakes Brewing Company, and most of us can attest, they definitely don't deserve more than a couple beers on there at maximum--we've got a lot of stellar stuff going on in Ohio, and GLBC has, for the most part, fallen behind.

For one, KBBS fell far from its perch, as well as Good Morning (not that I ain't happy about that, lol--I'm sure KBBS is far overrated like Mornin Delight was, for me). Overall there are far less Tree House beers, and far more old classics. Not necessarily a bad thing, but is it representative of current tastes over the past 3 years?

It looks a lot closer to the Beers of Fame list now. At least there is also Top New Beer list and Popular list, but, I think the formula for overall Top still needs some tweaking.

As I said above, there are beers that are showing way higher than they did before, for example Zombie Dust, if I'm not mistaken. It was high on the Beers of Fame list before, but I don't think it was quite as high as it is now on the Top list. Thought it was down in the near hundreds, if not over. But Zombie Dust 15th place overall? Kind of, weird...if you ask me.

I have a friend local to the pub say that he was going to go get tickets, but his friends friend did and talked to a guy that used to date a girl that works there, and its 100% random bottle handed out in a tote this year.
