Darklord Day 2017

Been attending DLD since 2009; finally got through reading all of the pages here (literally!)...

If they'd do random allotments versus FCFS it would alleviate having to line up hours early for any group.

There are already way too many lines at Dark Lord/Line Day; queuing up to get in, then lining up for bottle allocations, food (a 50 minute wait for a burger one year - seriously!?), taps, merchandise and bathrooms (& trash cans for the unfortunate)...

Wish they would just give people a random tote of their allocations on the way out so they don't have to carry/drop/get their bottles stolen during the fest... Let people enjoy the fest, shares, etc. without worry and one more (major) line to wait in!

 

Trust me, many will.

They still have tickets available - it's in the "Beer Classes" section on their web store!

Same, I don't think I would get there early enough to get a good spot in the A line. I guess my question is are they handing out randoms until the variants allocated for that group runs out, and then they will start handing out vintages?

 

I heard from the guys friends guys girlfriend its like bobbing for applies
except you dunk your head in a big pool of DL and need to find and grab a commemorative tote with your teeth and whatever you pull up is yours!

 

I would be happy if this is the way they did it... So at least the people who line up for their group 1st are guaranteed a vintage.

 

VIA DLD FAQs section: Is this new info?

"Each ticket is printed with a group designation (A-E). There will be a line for each group to enter the brewery and collect your Dark Lord allocation. Each Group will be allowed to enter during or after its designated time frame. Check out the Schedule page of this website to determine what time your group will be allowed to collect bottles of Dark Lord. We highly recommend that you do not line up more than 30 minutes prior to your group’s designated time, and that you enjoy the festival, the other beers available, and the music until your group time arrives."

 

I would assume that is how they would do it. Unless someone early requests vintages.

But random would really be the only way I could imagine them curtailing the allotment lines throughout the day.

 

Just updated the DLD page. Variants spread evenly across all groups, first come per group. Variants released as well.

Really?? Thanks for your infinite wisdom! Not sure what I would have done without you.

 

To summarize variant distribution (and hopefully keep it brief):

• Equal # of variants across all groups
• Distribution is 1st come/1st served
• FFF recommends lining up for your group no earlier than 30 mins prior to group start time.

What's TBD:

• Separate queue lines for each group that would allow groups to line up at any time

 

I would hope that the line to get in this year wont be the fiasco it was last year but like.....this seems worse. But maybe it'll be better? I hate that we'll pretty much have to wait until we get there to find out.
