Someone leaked footage of the new variant line process before it descended into chaos and it wasn't pretty:

 

I'm 100% sure there will be people in B group lining up right away. I also won't be shocked if that's true for all of the groups.....unless they have some mechanism in place to prevent it.

 

While we are waiting for 3Floyds to tell us how everything will work (in theory), what's everyone bringing for shares?

I haven't even considered what to bring yet. I'll probably just grab some things before I leave for the hotel on friday.

 

Is it me...but no matter what 3 Floyd's say...if it isn't a random variant in your tote, any process is going to be a shitstorm? People don't listen and will try to game the system, which will make it a cluster. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

This. I feel like random is the only way to prevent a total shitshow. Really hoping I'll be surprised though. I am just going to assume that I will end up with 2 vintages, and go about the day like normal. If I get a variant then great!

 

I'm still not grasping why people think the variants will be more of a shit show than normal this year? Last year you walked in, grabbed your tote with 4 bottles, then walked up to the table that had the variant you wanted. What is it about the variants being divided evenly make this different? Like, do you think there might be fights? Or, I dunno. Please enlighten me.

 

probably a good idea to have that attitude....should carry you through the day nicely. I feel similarly. I'm really only interested in a couple of the variants anyway (Handjee and Bourbon)....and I'll probably choose vintage DL bottles over the Muscat barrel aged variants and the scotch one....but mostly I'm just excited to be attending another year.

 

Yeah the lines should move fast. The only "shitshow" will be try-hards to want to wait literally all day to be the first guy in Group E through the bottle pick line.

 

This is what I'm afraid of. Firestone and Huna (this year) are really great in that they check your ID and let you into a corral. They open the corral and let everyone into the fest at once. However, if you have to get into a second line inside to get your DL bottles / variant, people will literally be running from the main gate to the bottle line. Drunk neckbeards with a backpack full of share bottles running to get more bottles... Epic Shitshow - BEGIN! LOL

I really hope this isn't the case...

 

I think the potential is there for fighting. All it's going to take is one douche that cuts in line.

 

A combination of a few things...

1) One entry line instead of 2.

2) The "staging area" or holding pen or whatever we want to call it at the gate.

3) People from later groups lining up insanely early to get a Handjee or FVM. Those were gone before the end of group B last year.

4) People trying to game the system to get a better variant. Right now, we don't know what happens if a Group A person tries to enter in a later group. Can someone just waltz into another line if they don't want scotch barrel?

It may not be that bad, but I doubt it's as smooth as last year.

 

Anyone who attempts to be an ass prior to picking up their allotment should be escorted out, have their badge taken away and lose their allotment.

 

I don't understand how you don't understand, see below:

We don't know exactly how the bottle lines will work, and whether or not the variants will be given by choice or handed out random.

If you are given your own personal choice of variant
-AND there are separate lines for each group, people will sit in those lines all day. To me, that is a basic shitshow.
-OR, if there is only one line for all groups to stand in, you will have one mega massive cluster fuck of irrelevant groups trying to get in line early so they can get there choice of variant from their group.

Very few people will want to have to blame themselves for getting a non-variant because they didn't get in line when the fest opened.

And yeah, we're talking E's, if the lines work as laid out above, you'll see E's in bottle lines first thing in the morning...

 

I'm thinking that variants inside the distribution area will be broken out by group. So, if you are group A and end up going in with group B, you will still select from group A's allotment.

 

I planned on that. Did you go to Amherst btw? I did.
