Since a lot of this anti-variant ***** you started was with me, I'll respond...

    1) You should stop assuming that everyone that cares about their variant is going to sell it. It makes you sound like a dick.

    2) The most they ever charged for admission before 2015 was $30. That's a REALLY big difference. It costs me more to go to the average local beer fest pouring crap every weekend. Now it's $180, and was $200 last year. That gets a much different crowd and creates much different expectations.

    3) I must have missed the part where you can't drink beer and meet people in the variant lines. Or do any of that when you're not in the variant line. I was in the variant line for just over an hour last year. Hopefully this one isn't that different. I'm worried it will be because of the distribution change from last year.

    4) I still had plenty of drunken fun AND got my #2 variant choice last year, I was thrilled. It is possible for people to go to a fest for more than one reason.

Feel free to roam the fest as you please. I'll join you after I get my variant. Hopefully the taps are better than last year for both of our sakes.

If they choose to go back to a-la-carte pricing, I'll happily chip in the $40 or so to get in and another $20 each for a couple of the regular DL. However, while I'm paying top-of-the-market prices for a BA stout, I'm going to do what's in reason to get one that I actually want to drink.

Maybe you should give your variant to someone less fortunate than you since you like looking down on us for caring about it.

I know that at least one local food truck (Grindhouse - a local coffee shop) will be there in the morning serving breakfast sammiches to the masses - inside the gates. Hoping that there is more, but ????

Getting food has always been one of my bugaboos about DLD with Floyds - I don't want a gourmet burger that takes a half-hour to grill whilst I wait, just have some stuff pre-packaged (like a simple ham and cheese?) that I can grab and go. Nonetheless, my better half and I always pack food in the back pack in the case we can't get anything else.

Honestly, I'd take a 50 dollar voucher for the brewpub instead of the vintage bottles. Maybe I can ask while I'm there.

You were doing really well staying on point until the above part.

Why do people constantly accuse people of being reselling mules when they disagree with them? Drives me nuts on this site.

Or $50 in DLD vouchers (that I know they don't use this year, but if they did..)

Sigh. Nice use of numbers, though. Nice touch, and well played by calling me a dick without actually calling me a dick. Are you a lawyer?

I'm not a variant ********, and I don't believe I ever singled out anyone in particular on this thread, and said they were going to sell / trade their variant. I believe that my original point in the thread, maybe on page 13?, was concerning the gnashing of teeth regarding how the variants were being distributed, and vis-a-vis the inequalities of that, and how that would result in lines out that ass. That was it, and I still think the same way - get over it. There's no crying in baseball.

You do realize - the only reason there will be lines is if there are enough asshats sufficiently willing enough to line up in them, and thus create the line, that lines are created? Real chicken and the egg type stuff, so don't over think it, but based on the responses to me in this thread, I think I have my answer - there will be lines, because you are willing to stand in them. Not saying you're an asshat, but then again, you didn't say I was a dick, so we're even.

And, side bar your excellency, of course, every BA reading this is pure in mind and spirit, and would never ever consider selling or trading a variant, right?

As for expectations - If you don't want to pay the $180, then don't. It's that simple. Right? Take your hard-earned cash and attend the other better run fests that are seemingly readily available to you, and kiss DLD goodbye. Why keep coming back?

You can easily unload them for $50 cash at the fest.

If you offered to sell any bottles,Vintage or recent, for $25/bottle, you would have people lining up to take them.

If you are serious about unloading them, just float out there while sharing, and you'll have a buyer really quickly.

Yes, people will gladly pay you for your bottles. I will be offering cash for a few lesser desired variants while there. (And not to flip them. My wife and I are having a son, our first, in September and I plan on having a big bottle share with multiple variants to celebrate.)

Not @YoungLad's best unloading, but certainly among his best work. I was waiting for that one.

That said, YoungLad is a man of word and I wod vouch for him as a BA.

Talk about spending a lot of time grinding and wailing and gnashing one's teeth...and talk about a chicken and egg phenomenon...

It really didn't take me all that time at all to write my initial response, but it does seem like you're wrestling with something greater internally, all things considered. So for your sake let's dig into that, shall we

lol, you sound like a great time and an excellent person to "roam the grounds" with. Enjoy roaming those grounds hunting for all of those freshly tapped Alpha King kegs!

You make so many baseless, off the wall, intentionally insulting and downright false assumptions it's hilarious! And frankly, only reflective of your own internal conflicts.

I actually do not have tickets to the fest, at all, still, because I know very intimately how FFF likes to fuck its fans over, and was waiting, and still am waiting, to see how the true distribution method will be, if they even decide to release that information at all prior to the event. $180 plus 12-15 hours of driving plus hotel accommodations for one or two nights--I'm not enduring another poorly run shitshow if I can help it. Thanks to FFF, I refuse to purchase tickets to any event ever if details of the event and the benefits of said tickets are not clearly laid out ahead of the purchase. Thankfully, it's really only FFF that has failed this test over the years, so I'm not missing out on much else.

Enough with the beating of the dead horse. We get it, you're a local that enjoys going to the fest because to you it's an easily accessible, massive local fest that you have always gone to. You've seen it all, tasted it all, done it all, and there's nothing novel to you about it.

Chicken and egg type stuff, right, but you can't seem to see the forest for the trees. FFF creates a massively hyped, exceedingly rare product, then devises an unbelievably convoluted way to distribute it to its festival attendees, and thus, if everyone's assumptions are correct this year, people will line up to ensure they get the best choice. Well, seems like finding the origin of the issue was actually quite simple.

One glaring purpose of all of this sturm and drang that seems to fly right over your head is for the off-chance that FFF might actually stop and listen, like any other event organizers or breweries would, and ensure the most seamless festival experience possible. Sure, we all know they won't, but like I said, off-chance.

Honestly, I knew I couldn't have responded more eloquently and concisely than @Zoomslowik did with his two excellent posts above, so I'll just quote his most poignant line as a closer.
