I am not sure that it is normal. I know that Cycle recently charged that for 2-3 of their beer week releases. And the Bruery has always charged around $30+ for their exclusive 750ml bombers. But the average still seems to be $20-$25 (at least for the breweries that I can think of).

Let me be clear. $15 tour includes 6x 6oz samples and a beer glass. Plus you can buy up to two bottles so it evens out. GA restricts how many ounces you can leave a brewery with so basically allowed two bottles or a six pack. I love Scofflaw, the beer is great and the people who work there treat everyone like family. It's by no means their "fault". The only hassle is paying the extra $15 when you can't stay for your 6 half pours. September will be better

That is Scofflaw specific and I don't like it. At creature and most other breweries you can buy the to go tour which is just the cost of the beer. You can walk in, pay $10 for a 6 pack and leave. You don't have to stay or even pay for the onsite tour because you are "touring" the beer to go. Basically they can sell up to 72 oz of beer that you can leave with. There is no law making them sell on site tours. Thats just Scofflaw BS

You're right that this is Scofflaw's specific policy. On their bigger beer releases, they don't allow the purchase of an off-site tour unless you also buy the on-site tour. Several other GA breweries have enacted this policy for their more desirable releases (Three Taverns did for the Helm's Deep release, for example). I personally don't mind the policy. It kind of keeps the hoarders/traders and their mule armies to a minimum, leaving more of the beer for locals to get a shot at for personal consumption.

I do not see anyone BUT locals going after these releases....Still feel its a money grab. Especially when you do not really want to taste their other beers. It will all change in Sept. They cannot force the policy.

For Helm's Deep there was a lot of other draft only rare stuff, so I was happy to pay the tour. Plus they have a wide variety of regular stuff on draft so everyone can find something to enjoy. Scofflaw though does nothing except IPAs save for the occasional big beer, so that is bullshit to pay tour price if you aren't a hophead.
