Lebron is a jackass, and this is only the latest example. I don't have a problem with a guy protecting his likeness or image, but he is butt hurt that they called him out on his moronic 'decision'. He's one of the reasons I have nearly zero interest in the NBA.
"Quitness" aside, GLBC is a company worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Just because someone touches your product doesn't make them your new spokesperson. Their owner, CEO and marketing department all jumped on this and did interviews speculating it was like when Peyton mentioned Bud after the Superbowl and Dortmunder would see a sales surge. They tried to milk this thing with a blatant disregard for the law, not to mention reusing photos that are property of the NBA and are not theirs to reprint, alter, etc. This gives a ton of insight into the quality of leadership at GLBC IMO. A huge bonehead move. Leaders have to think about the consequences of their actions, and large companies have to weight risk/reward. This was clearly not worth the risk. I hope he sues them for millions.
LeBronze is a total loser. Maybe HE should have thought his actions out a bit better as a businessman. He's an entertainer and this backfired on him. He deserves the mess. As a role model, pretending to drink beer on the job during a nationally televised game was a bonehead move and GLBC did a great job trying to capitalize on this. They are all over the news and this is great marketing/advertising for them and it makes Lebron look like a no-fun baby.
Seems pretty reasonable to me. If a brewery was going to use an image of me drinking their product, I would expect them to at least ask for my permission first.
LeBron is a south bound end of a north bound horse! Great Lakes is a very good brewery that makes beers to style!
