Really subdued for one of these releases. You'll be fine.

 

New batch of Oro Negro being bottled today (from Instagram).

 

Hopefully they go back to the peppers from the grocer, that last batch was obviously not as good.

 

Even store bought peppers can vary. He already said his intent was to up the heat from the last batch

 

So who's going to be the volunteer pepper licker?

 

I like stupid hot peppers. I'll do it.

 

Is that a euphemism?

@beace I'm not sure it has been said in here, but the new recipe for Mystic Mama is a HUGE improvement. Loved it. Did you change the malt profile or just the hops?

 

I am new to JOs. I have never had distribution, and did not know until just recently that they distributed in Cincinnati where I visit fairly often. This is me prefacing my potentially ignorant question:

I have a buddy going through Athens soon, and was going to ask him to pick me up a couple things. I was just wondering how often they switch up their bottled offerings? Is it quarterly, every 2 months? I mean, I am sure it is not like clockwork, but I am curious of the relative frequency.

 

Their website includes a list of bottles available at the taproom. It is regularly updated; generally once a week. Any "special" releases are communicated via twitter and via facebook. Sometimes those releases are brewery only and do not make it to distribution. They usually publicize whether a particular offering may be distributed and how widely it may be distributed.

If your friend is headed to Athens, just check the website a day or two before and give him a shopping list. You should expect that they will have bottles available that never made it to wide distribution and that you may not be able to get in Cincy.

The last 3% of caramel malt was removed at the beginning of the year. Doubling the dryhop was the biggest catalyst for improvement.

I see Jackie O's pulled out of the Wicked Weed Invitational. I'm sure that has to be disappointing to have to do that.

 

Newest batch of Oro is pretty awesome. Favorite batch since the first. Liked the first batch better because I remember more cinnamon but I love this one too. Great balance to it and so damn drinkable. Just wanted to spread the appreciation for one of my favorite beers.

 

Agree 200%! Mystic Mama was always an IPA I liked, but never loved. Me and a friend split a can of the new recipe and were blown away! Right after cracking the can it was hugely aromatic, seemed more citrus forward and all in all was just a massive improvement! We both loved it and I'll be buying it more frequently now.

 

Never been to a Jackie brewery release before and thinking of making the drive from Chicago. Generally, how early do I need to be there for the Appervation release?

 

Is that going to be the name of the side project collab? Most brewery releases (not old school release parties) there is no need to worry about timing as they last at least a week. However, that side project release might be a different story.
