JJJuliusss isn't DDH - according to Nate, I believe he said it's roughly 30% more kettle hops and dry hop.

Alter Ego is the Julius base beer but dry hopped with Amarillo and Mosaic.

7pm people were still questioning and convinced that a silent release, as if entitled to one, will happen this thursday with one hour left open.. the entitlement is beginning.

The DDH term means what exactly? Twice the hops? Or just dry hopped twice? Cause you can just ad 20% more hops and dry hop it twice...

I suspect that the answer to that question varies based on the brewer you ask... It's more of a relative marketing term than an absolute scientific one (in terms of its usage today).

Or use the same amount of hops and add them on different days in the fermentation process...

Just because one doesn't work M-F 9-5 doesn't mean they're not a slave to the man.

Listen, I'm totally an old school "get off my lawn" type of guy. But I recognize that the workplace has changed for many many people. It's more about getting tasks accomplished on a flexible time frame than it is about being present for certain hours. More and more jobs are like this, and that gives people the flexibility to go to TH whenever they happen to be open.

I would agree.. complete marketing. Wonder how many people know Pliny is DDH. Maybe they should start marketing it as so... who wouldn't want double the pine?

You are a just a touch better than the $40 a 4pk people on numerous facebook groups. Way better than the $20+ a can goons until you factor in gas, tolls, mule fees, and rarity. Congrats I guess.

For real. The entitlement has been in full effect since shortly before the second brewery spot.

Part of the enjoyment of the beer is the chase in getting it. TH is better than all the rest for sure, but when you can walk in and buy 3 cases of whatever you want, you have to admit that a little of the thrill will be gone. Their beer is awesome, for sure, but exclusivity tastes good too. People should be careful what they wish for (or expect).

No, no, no, and no for me. TH beer is great to my tastes. The chase, travel, rarity, and low volume don't do shit for me. Exclusive tastes like shit.

Gammy and wifey buying allotments so fatty neckbeard can razzle it off on facebook doesn't pump me up.

Trillium has always (for me) been better and expansion hasn't changed that. 90% of TH is hype. They make great beer but when the 3rd party sale and trade rate drop off watch what happens. It will be a bit as they will surely throttle production to begin the new spot. Playing into the hype is profitable. I would retweet mule scores too.

If your drive time is reasonable getting beer regularly from TH is not a huge deal. It's basically been my daily beer for a year and a half so I don't think the thrill of the hunt or w/e is my motivation at this point.

Yeah, no. Exclusivity does nothing for me. If anything, it's an annoyance. If you think a beer taste worse because 1000 cases are available instead of 500 then I truly feel bad for you.

Yes there's a thrill in corralling a hard to get brew but I absolutely wish it wasn't so difficult to acquire!

It's human nature to want what you can't have. And apparently reading some of the posts on this thread it's human nature to be judgmental as well.

I'm not saying that the beer tastes better or worse based on how many cases are available. But exclusivity does affect perception and experience, even if you are not aware of it. There are tons of psychological studies to back this up, and that's all I'm suggesting.

I rather strongly disagree with this. The "chase in getting it" is what prevents me from getting and drinking Tree House on the regular rather than every couple of months or so. Walking in to Trillium and getting a case each of several world-class beers is so preferable to driving, waiting in line (although I can usually time it decently thanks to years worth of this thread), driving again and coming home with, at max, 10-12 beers.

If Charlton straight-up murders the "thrill of the chase" for TH, that will be nothing but wonderful news to me. Settled-down lines, significantly bigger limits, a slightly better drive... Canton pushed my Trillium trips from quarterly to every couple of weeks, and I suspect Charlton will have a similar effect on my Tree House trips.
