Drink at Gingerman (closest to downtown), Draughthouse, Flying Saucer. Drink lots of 512, Live Oak, Jester King, Real Ale, Saint Arnold etc.

Nice thing to do here would have been a link to the post...

People who don't frequent this forum shouldn't be made to think we're a bunch of angry and sarcastic jerks. Just saying.

Don't forget about the Whip In. Close to downtown and great selection of taps and bottles...plus growler fills!

We're not jerks... For the most part. But when something like sxsw is going on, there is bound to be at least one thread with the info they seek. I would also wager a guess that every regional forum has at least 12 threads started by travelers who seek good beer in any major metropolitan area. I would hope that these new forums allow stickies. We should have a single thread stickied at the topcontaining links to various "where to find the good beer in XXXX" threads.

Hops & Grain Brewing is close to the SXSW events and they're open for tours/tastings on Fri and Sat afternoons. You'll probably want a bike, bus pass or a car to get that far East though.

Places with good beer around all of the SXSW events are Ginger Man, Easy Tiger, Lovejoy's, Opal Divine's, 24 Diner, Whole Foods, Brew Exchange. All of these places are walking distance from 6th Street. The East Side has some good bars. Most don't have a wide variety but will typically carry a few locals.

Draught House and Flying Saucer have great selections but they're not close to any of the music for SXSW. Draught House will have a Lagunitas event with a good selection of their taps and casks on Saturday starting at 11:00am.

Check out Beer Mapping for other areas around town:

Fair point. I should've figured there'd be another post. I post here relatively frequently as I'm in AZ and do the same song and dance for others when the come to PHX. It would be good to have a pinned thread for "drinking in XXXX".

Thanks for the recs in the other thread (and thanks to those of you who answered in this thread). First time going to Austin and I am FREAKING PUMPED

Yes that would've been a good idea but considering the other thread was literally 4 posts down I didn't think thatd be necessary
