I know there is a Mikerphone thread, but I gotta say that Poetic Hustler from Mikerphone is an awesome beer. Hazy grapefruit juice bomb. Mike killed it with this beer.

    Squeezit=juicy
Salute your Simcoe= not so much

Salute your Simcoe is a very good beer in it's own right. It's like a NE IPA posing as a West Coast flavor profile. I get tons of pine and very little fruit, but the pillowy mouthfeel and thick, almost oily, flavor adds a pleasant dimension to what a traditional crisp, piney West Coast IPA would have given you. Smells more fruit flavorful than the taste yields, I didn't get fruit at all. No doubt a very enjoyable beer, but my preference was hoping for a tropical juice bomb similar to a low ABV Squeezit. I have full confidence they can do a low abv NEIPA now, which we don't get too many of in Chicago, this thing is full bodied and flavorful for 5.4%. Simcoe has been disappointing for me in general in these NE IPA beers from Mikerphone Special Sauce, Hubbards Cave, etc. They all are piney and my expectations are fruit juicy, so that's on me.

    Very refreshing and satisfying nonetheless...

    Interesting fact...

One of the yeast strains Mike uses is the same one HB has used for some beers in the past.

So maybe there is some commonality to what you are smelling. Now, is it a "Belgian" aroma? That's a different discussion, but chances are you're on to something.

Yeah not for me, man. It's good. I had Squeezit there, and had some to take home. I'll take one of my two fav gummies (I can't for the life of me remember all of their names... ill check my untappd and check back) over it any day.

I hate self promoting, but have to mention if anyone makes it to the Chicago Beer Classic tomorrow at Soldier Field, we'll be pouring Really Dank Meme and Hawaiian Shirt Day, which is the aforementioned passionfruit/mango variant of our pale ale, Dank Meme.

Sweet, I've been meaning to try Old Irving (partially because I was a big fan of the chef who originally was starting it). An NE IPA is always a good intro!

Go ahead & self-promote!! We're all clearly at least interested in the style, so if you're making it we want to know!

Debated heading to Corridor for lunch but I live in the west burbs and decided fighting Cubs traffic on a Friday wasn't worth it.

This RAM Mango Vanilla First Bloom is a nice alternative. Very nicely done.

"It will be available for in house consumption exclusively. We will have some prefilled crowlers of first bloom and will be filling them on demand until 3:00 or until we sell out."

Glad to hear it. I'm not ashamed to promote you guys because I think you are making great beer. I won't be there as I'll be at Blue Island Beer Company for a different event. Hope you guys are well received! I think people are often a little bias of their favortite(s) local brewery (of which you happen to be mine by far), so curious to hear some my fellow BA takes when you try them out. Every time I've shared Triptych stuff with friends and family outside your distro footprint, it's been really well liked. Good luck!

Semi-related, hoping to stop by the taproom to try Dat Dust after work today. Mmm...Friday after work beer.

I'm assuming on site consumption is for the mango/vanilla version.

PrefIlled crowlers are for the original first bloom.

Hey man, I had Dank Meme, Really Dank Meme, and Little Secret. All 3 were very good. My fiance especially liked Dank Meme. We'll definitely be coming by the taproom in the fall when we head down to Champaign for an Illini football game. Keep up the awesome work!

Damnit, I was at Ram yesterday to try out First Bloom. I wanted to take some home, but they didn't have any crowlers so I was forced to get a growler. I guess I should've waited 24 hours...
