To be fair, tomorrow is still this week.

    We can only hope...

Erm...in one sense maybe. In another, it's "this weekend."

I'm thinking of bringing the following:

    Mikerphone Special Sauce
    New Glarus Serendipity 16
    Marz Jungle Boogie Fruit Punch
    Upland Peach Sour
    Bells Black Note 17
    Mikerphone Poetic Hustler

This is a modest but thoughtful offering. Bringing two friends who are DLD rooks so I'm going to hit the guest and floyds taps. We're going to HOUSE Dark Matter coffee as well. Looking forward to what they are bringing.

This brings up a question? are variants more on draft than regular DL?

Absolutely not. Regular Dark Lord will be on draft all day at every FFF draft station (there's like 4 or 5 of them) along with Zombie Dust, Gumballhead, etc.

The variants are random and go quick.

This will be my 4th year, and last year was the first year I ever saw a variant on draft.

Sorry I should have been more specific, are they more expensive on draft?

...and we beer geeks drive the market. Hasn't been that long ago people balked and botched about $45 for a bomber of original GI Rare. Now they don't bat an eye at $50 or more for "xyz beer", even more if it's barrel aged.

They used to be, but the last 2 years, no.

The last 2 years, every draft in the fest was $5 (or a $5 voucher last year). The size of the pour was different, (16oz for standard stuff, smaller cups for rare stuff), but it was all $5.

The smallest cup was I think 9oz. This was the glass regular dark lord and dark lord variants were served in.

Now this could change this year, but I would be surprised.

What time do people usually start lining up? Or what time have they in the past years?

Depends on what is communicated from FFF. With two gates last year, I was in group E and got in line around 10:30 at the South Gate and was in by about noon. I'm D this year and would like to shoot at getting in the gates by 10:30-11 this year. I'll probably get in line around 10:00 regardless (unless the weather is nicer; then maybe closer to 9).

Did a side by side with both the Bruery version and FFF3F version of Rue d Floyd last night

Bruery is much heavier with the cherry and obviously the addition of coffee. Floyds version is my favorite of the two since I don't prefer heavily fruited stouts/porters. Floyds version brought more bourbon into play. Both excellent

Thanks for this. I traded for a bottle of the Bruery version to go along with the fff (3f) version I picked up at the source and am looking forward to doing the same side by side. Sadly, I have no stout loving friends and both those bottles will require a serious commitment to attack solo. Gonna require a full weekend off and that never happens.

Seven days out, and my brother and I are finalizing our list. Trying to hit a nice balance of stout, hops, and sours:
    • Surly BA Darkness 2016
    • Surly Rye Barrel Pentagram 2016
    • Hill Farmstead Dorothy 2014
    • Funk Buddha Last Snow
    • BCBBW 2016
    • BCBS 2013 and 2014
    • Off Color/Side Project Procatstination
    • New Glarus Strawberry Rhubarb
    • Toppling Goliath DDH Psuedo Sue
    • Toppling Goliath NugMo
    • Toppling Goliath SueMo
    • Toppling Goliath Thresher
    • Untitled Art/Mikerphone Hazelnut Imperial Stout

Might throw in a Black Note, Fernetic, Bells 30, Straitjacket, or Half Acre Magick is Purple, but it kind of feels like overkill.

Also gonna be packing a dozen White Castle, some cold brew, and a shitload of Tums.
