Antagonized over Extras by New Trader

I realize we are all waiting for an explanation here. But what puzzles me is how @Samdaddy first sentence in the feedback says "did everything he said he would" and then proceeded to mark it negative.

 

I wasn't justifying his rating or saying you did something wrong. Looking at the feedback it seemed to me you left bad feedback first.

I don't like a trade where it is ______ +extras. I would rather spell out what is included and let extras be what I see extras as, a little generosity. For me extras are determined by several things including space, what I have on hand

If someone complained about extras I sent it would put that person on the do not trade list at the very least. The only exception would be if I sent someone old hops. Because if I did that, it was an accident and I would want to fix it.

Wow- this all started because I told him I was a little "bummed" by the extras given. I didn't plan on rating the trade because I wasn't trying to blow anyone up. I felt like I went out of my way to provide extras he hadn't had before by reviewing his entire beer list ( something that he complimented me on and was pretty psyched about and rated as such). He didn't owe me anything in particular with the extras, I just thought they would be better based on his pretty impressive beer list and we had some good discussions previously.

Well my "bummed" comment threw this guy off the handle to a degree I was pretty shocked by which included threatening me on a couple of occasions and touting his self-importance as a trader and beer critic- all on the thread. Even still I told him let's bury the hatchet and not make this a negative experience to which he continued antagonizing me. I gave this guy a bad rating because I think he's a self-important douche who takes himself way too seriously so if I need to amend my feedback to say this instead of commenting on the extras that's fine but that's my honest opinion and shouldn't be anything worthy of a ban.

Apparently I was wrong for expecting better extras but it still doesn't change my opinion the guy is a douche- happy to post the full thread as well as it shows this guy's unwillingness to let it go.

As much as I like to handle these situations behind the scenes...you both seem to be willing to post the conversation for the community to read and pass judgement for themselves....so go ahead

@Samdaddy the right move would have been to thank him for the trade, put down positive feedback and move on to someone else if YOU weren't happy with the extras.

 

Both of you get bonus points for being very articulate by BA standards.

But yeah I'm with @Sabtos for sure on this. Extras are extras and @Samdaddy was getting a steal to begin with.

 

@FFFjunkie You're probably right but once the guy started being a douche which he by his own admission doesn't deny, I felt obligated to let people know because I think it's relevant when trading. Again I wasn't looking for this to go here.

 

@Samdaddy before this all gets settled and locked down I do want to sincerely thank you for coming down here to address this thread. There's been an awful lot of people that can't even do that.

That being said at least this thread is over ruffled feathers and not over stolen beer!

 

Still smells of retaliation feedback to me. Agreed upon bottles arrived safely and on time to both parties. That's the only thing that matters.

 

I have to say that I don't see this going down at all the way that @Samdaddy has it made up in his mind. I don't view the comments by @Sabtos as being threatening or touting his experience at all. He was merely telling you that trades are not rated based on how you personally feel about the extras that you received, and warning you not to make your feelings public because as a veteran trader he knows that you are obviously in the wrong and will likely get zero support from the community for your stance. He was also just stating the fact that he's a tough critic and not to view his personal ratings of the extras that he sent you as a sign that the beers were "scraps." I'm sure that he was also quite offended by your comments as most traders in his position would be so any "douchery" that you perceived was warranted and would likely be received from most traders in his position. It's obvious that @Sabtos completed the trade as agreed to plus some extras, and thus deserves positive feedback. I don't really see this as "ban worthy" at this point even though you did break the rules with your feedback. Hopefully you will take full advantage of this learning opportunity and amend your feedback, as well as be more explicit about "extras" in the future if they are such a huge concern to you.

 

Both sides overreacted on this one. @Samdaddy is in the wrong for not wanting to post feedback based on extras - if he felt extras weren't up to par he could've just left positive feedback and said "met expectations" or something as opposed to "awesome extras". Posting negative feedback was definitely wrong.

@Sabtos probably went a little overboard in the conversation as well. Given his strong reputation it's not like he needed this feedback or anything. I probably would've just put @Samdaddy on my personal DNT trade and let it be. @Sabtos doesnt come across great either though with his arrogant references to his extensive trading history or his comments around costs for Huna beyond the $30 retail price.

 

Alright...lets put water under the bridge here and move forward.

No matter whose right or wrong here...

Main trade was met on both ends & extras were included. In the future (for anyone reading) if *extras* are agreed upon...then *specifics* need to be communicated by both trade parties to warrant any *negative* feedback....ex. Please don't send stouts, no IPA's over 2 weeks old,etc.

Extras are just that...extras. They certainly are not required, but definitely are always welcome! Beer trading is suppose to be fun! If I'm gonna "win" a trade...its because I went overboard with extras. That's how trade partners are made and friendships evolve.

Neither one of you are bad traders in my book.

Please change your feedback to *positive* for each other and tag me, so that I know it has been completed.

Once both feedbacks have been changed...I will lock the thread and we all can move forward.

Let's take care of this sooner rather than later.
